I think I'm going to eventually get me a box truck as well I live in West Virginia very mountainous and curvy roads. Good point on the trips to the landfill my landfills are all 60+ miles away one way

Just found your channel, thank you for sharing your experience, its super helpful. I am starting my business, with a dump trailer, and just recently wondered...what if my next purchase was a box truck with hydraulic lift instead of the "1 800 Got Junk Trucks"....which by me are about $80k fully loaded. I wonder if there are any legal limitations to putting a lift on a box truck? If not, it seems like the best of both worlds to me: more capacity, enclosed (no tarp needed, safer) and the convenience of a lift. In my initial research it seems way cheaper.

I am thinking box truck cuz I’ve been doing furniture deliveries in my F250 and want to expand into junk removal. There’s only so much I can fit in a F250 pickup.

It is the cheap option. I was going to buy a Rolls Royce and pull a trailer, but then realized that I would not make more money. This is my option to. It,s reality. In CANADA my insurance wants $16,000. for insurance as I do not have experience driving a 1-800 Got Junk type truck. My option is driving a truck under 9900 pounds.I'm with you brother. Good Luck

Maybe you can use a heavy duty rake iron and pull some of that stuff off especially some of the smaller stuff

Is it possible to break the box? like if you threw in a 300lb water heater ?

You can find a place near you that can remove the box truck and add a hydraulic lift to it and the whole box truck will actually lift on a hydraulic lift similar to a dump trailer. You can also Google dumping box truck and you can see images of what it would look like.

You can do the sistem that rolls everything out

I like box trucks better than the pick up truck trailer combo it only take me about 15 min to unload

I've got a 14x7x4 dump trailer. I drove an 18 wheeler for years, so dump trailer is cake for me

Where did you get your vinyl signs from?

Whats your insurance cost? I currently have a 7x12 dump trailer but it doesn't hold much lost a job today because i had a half load in it and needed more space to get the job done.

I have a 10' box. The major downside is the payload is only 2,000 lbs. I think its triple that on a 14' box like you have. Its a money maker though. Cheers

I have 14ft as well with a bad motor I paid 850.00 for it put a engine in for 1000.00 parts an labor like 1800

My question is when it comes to hauling dirt or jobs that are super heavy do you pick in choose what you do?

I don’t haul dirt or concrete. I would pass on it even if I got the request. Too heavy. To me that’s not considered “junk”. It’s more excavation or landscaping. I love the box truck.

How long should you expect the transmission on these things to last? 150k, 200k miles?

I’m about to upgrade but I’m so confused on what to get my eyes where on a 6 by 12 4 ft walls but my 1500 maxes out at 7,890 pounds pulling?

your average load of junk in a 6X12X4 trailer really shouldn't exceed 1000-2500 lbs max, unless you're hauling dirt, concrete, or heavy demolition/construction type debris. I wouldn't even want those type jobs. No need to be breathing in asbestos from demos on old houses.

12X6X6= 432 cubic feet. divided by 27 (27 cubic feet in a cubic yard) = 16 cubic yards. His truck may be a little wider than 6 ft. or longer than 12.
