Box Fan vs. Drum Fan (Bilt Hard 24") for Shop Ventilation and Cooling

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Looking at the difference in airflow between a typical household box fan, and a large industrial drum / barrel fan for airflow to clear woodworking dust, or general shop cooling. I also demonstrate how I use the Built Hard 24" fan in my DIY lumber kiln to dry hardwood lumber like white oak and walnut.

I have the loud fan on a stand in my room. Works great! So powerful on low, helps circulation in our small house.

Ok so google is listening in on ny conversations. I just bought a industrial fan over a box fan because they were out of box fans...And I'm glad. The metal wing fans chop air so much better. Yes the box fan was going for 22.99 but I wind up paying 59.99 for the industrial fan lol

I have a box fan hanging from the ceiling and plugged into the light circuit. It turns on when I turn on the lights. I hung it upside down so that the controls are easy to reach. I also have a large drum fan, but don't have a place for it to sit in the shop. It is also pretty loud. Consequently, it doesn't get used as much. Because of its larger diameter, I can't hang it from the ceiling without it being a head-bumper.

Sounds like you worked out a pretty good solution with the ceiling mount. Sounds convenient.

Exactly what I was looking for, thank you sir. I was about to buy a 42” drum fan because I am just not a fan of this 20” box fan.

Considering the larger fan costs 10 times the box fan, what do you expect?

Your comparison is not fair the 20” box fan to the 24” drum wish this had been a better control test

Well my goal wasn't to be fair, I just wanted to compare two commonly available products so people could see what a difference in performance there is. Sorry you didn't like it.

So I noticed u mentioned the name of the Biltmore fan and you also stated that the Biltmore was on its high speed. There was no mention of the brand or the speed of the box fan. Maybe this is the reason for the comment not being fair by the other person. Also, the box fan you displayed in ur vid looked extremely cheaply made and no name which maybe it were on its highest wouldn't push out air. Maybe next time you can do a better comparison with 2 reputable fan examples. It would make ur comparison videos more realistic.

@@tanurrahdodson9231 Hello, thanks for the comment. We have been so conditioned by marketing agencies to expect "head to head" comparisons. Yet the type of comparisons I usually do usually look at two dissimilar products and do a real world comparison. Whether that's fans, cordless tools, or sewing machines. These are the type of videos that are most helpful to me. Do I need two cheap Walmart fans, or one heavy duty fan? Often the difference between two products in the same class and price category is negligible. I just make videos that I think are helpful. It upsets a handful of people, and I could never figure that out. The Walmart fan was on high by the way, it just has very low output. I had trouble even getting a CFM reading. Thanks.

I would hope people aren’t actually upset about this however you’re not really comparing in a way that is helpful in making a decision only due to the fact the fans are not even close in similarities I don’t think you understand what we’re saying but If this works for your channel growth then you know what is best. Thanks anyway I ended up buying the box fan and I love it.
