Bowness-on-Solway. The Start of Hadrian's Wall

On the north coast of Cumbria is the Solway Firth Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. While the Lake District gets all the plaudits for it's stunning views, mountains and lakes. This part of the county is incredibly beautiful and is well worth a visit. Bowness on Solway is at the western end of Hadrian's Wall and one end of the Hadrian's Wall Path. Join me for a look around this beautiful villiage.

It’s somewhere I haven’t been much myself to be honest. Really nice along the coast road and looked like there was a few good park ups too with no visible parking restrictions. 😀👍🏻

Thanks for the video Paul, very interesting, although I'm originally from Cumberland, I've never been to Bo'ness on Solway.

To be honest that was only my second visit. Lovely area though, definitely worth a repeat trip at some point. 😀👍🏻

The old railway line Scottish side of that bridge was used to carry an outflow pipe for the Chapelcross nuclear plant. Dont know if it was radioactive stuff that flowed through it but the pipe ran above ground and could be seen at the bottom of peoples gardens! You can still see parts of it on Google street view near Annan Tesco.
