I shot a lot of gar south east of Dallas on the Trinity River. I was using a little 10 foot Jon boat and I swear there were gator gar so big I was too scared to shoot them. I was usually by myself and even if I did manage to subdue one of those beasts (not likely) I'd never get him in the boat by myself! I never even thought about using a .22 rifle to kill them. This was back in the 80's, long before I ever watched bow fishing (or gator) on video.

I will say it like this, they have no predators, there is a one per person a day law, we only shot 2, some lakes in Texas have went up on the bag limit because they are overloaded with them and the bass population has went to nothing. It’s a huge misconception about them and really how strong the population is.

I agree
Why are you charging your troller battery when you can have a Converter and never have to worry about charging it?
Охота во время нереста? Хм..
Do you look into the eyes of creatures that are in the extremes of ecstacy before you exercise your need too kill. I fear not.

You couldn’t be more wrong, there are lakes in Texas so over ran that the state has upped the back limit to 5 per day. They have no predators, their population is booming.

Oh I thought humans were the most invasive species on earth. Are you one of them??
Dude…. That fish older than you by far. I wouldn’t shoot ‘em. I’m a sportsman and still I wouldn’t shoot ‘em. Might catch and release.

@@TatsuyaShiba97 only because of conservation efforts. Just let em live. There are plenty of other things to shoot. Anything take 100 years to get that big you should give it a pass. My opinion. I’m surprised DNR allows this. Not even sure they do.

Dude, shut up. Just because something is older than us does not mean it’s immoral to harvest them. By that logic we shouldn’t harvest clams or oysters.

It actually makes more sense to harvest bigger things. It's prob gonna die soon anyways, and it's lived a lot longer than something smaller
