    Hi Mark, after using a bare (compound) bow for 8 - 9 years and then putting it down for about 12, I have just picked it up again and realised that my 30 year old PSE is worn out like me, (59)? So after looking around for a few weeks I bought a new Martin Blade X4 on Australian eBay; I live in Western Australia. The main reason was because it fitted my budget after I bought all the other things I needed to set it up and also all the good reports I read about Martin Bows and the Blade. The 2 local archery shops want $80 to $100- to set it all up; but after watching all your videos I feel confident in setting the bow up my self, plus I want the pleasure of this accomplishment, thanks for taking the time to make them. Russ.

    Mark, I love the work you are doing. I have looked all around trying to find clear concise information on archery hunting. Your work is hands down the best I have found so far. I love the blog, it seems like every new post is something that I wanted to learn about. Thanks for all of the information and keep up the amazing work!

    I have an old Bear Whitetail 2 compound that I have set up with just a knock for finger release. I really like just shooting fingers but I just got a mechanical release for the holidays. Can I use that placed right under the arrow or is a loop necessary? I'm relatively new to shooting and just want to be sure if this would be inaccurate or damaging to use the release just on the string. Also, since there is a brass knock on the string, will tying a loop around that make it too wide and cause an incorrect angle?

  • @MarkTheFark

    Ideally you want a d-loop. Shooting straight off the string can wear the string and also introduce torque that will affect accuracy/consistency. I would mark your nocking point, remove the brass nock, and install a new d-loop using your marked nocking point as a reference.

    SoleAdventure.com Yeah I figured it would probably wear firing it like that, and I also noticed that when drawing back with it that it did offset my anchor point and felt awkward. Thanks for getting back to me.

    Is it ok if I use paracord?

  • @axelgebhardt9476
    @axelgebhardt94769 жыл бұрын

    I was wondering if actual paracord would work, but I have heard that it is to thick and it will stretch to much and possibly cause damage to the bow and/or the person shooting. It makes sense to use actual D-Loop cord, but I have a good bit of the paracord and I was wanting to know of it was a good replacement. If you can help thanks.

  • @MarkTheFark

    Axel Gebhardt I wouldn't advise using paracord for the exact reasons that you mentioned. Proper d-loop rope can usually be purchased at your local shop (or online) for about $1/foot. BCY makes great stuff.

    Put a tied nock set below the arrow and this will eliminate any arrow pinch issues!

    Mark this is such a perfect video. Your video on tying in a peer is good on the first half but you lost me on the second and its because you omitted actually going up the string and around the peep and on up and then serving the top half. I know you can't do it on a arrow but it just didn't help me completely. Not like this d loop video is perfect. Maybe you will do another peep video. Thanks

    All that unnecessary technology. Just use a long bow with bare string and no sights, if you can't hit your target with that then you shouldn't call yourself an archer.

  • @ergot57

    @ergot57

    Probably true, but I would never be so presumptuous as to call myself an Archer. Hunter? Yes. I grew up shooting Long then Recurve bows. As a teen I managed a couple of kills with my Recurve before the pulleys came in to style. Doe right underneath me were in serious trouble. Having some sights makes for a cleaner kill and allows me to do this at much greater distances. I personally could never match my accuracy with my Recurve, if I still had it, to my capabilities with the Compound and sights. No, I'm no Archer, but I do kill Whitetail with my bow.

    Isnt that like saying if your not shooting ball ammo from a flint lock your not a rifleman? Technology changes everything including the amount of skill required.
