To top it off, the artwork and B-roll are very appropriate, consistent, and well done. This kind of attention to detail takes a LOT of time, especially when it comes to the amount of research involved.

(dun dun dun dun) it all started when Man C. Person designed the shootypewpew, which soon evolved into the gunweapongun, designed mainly for the brunkian military, but often seen in the hands of civilians. it's seen in many iconic examples of popular media such as bunkle 2 and bruhjk: the revenge of jucklebuk. Perhaps that's what makes it so huffledoe. from bunkale, to punkle. jubbly to succle. no other weapon is quite so jiddly. the gunweapongun. crunkle, junkle, and glibglob.

    Just a small historical quibble: The transition from the bow to the gun was precipitated largely by the firearm's user-friendliness. Even though the bow was more accurate and fired much more quickly than smooth-bore muskets, it takes a number of years to train an archer. Anyone can learn to fire a musket in an afternoon. By the end of the American civil war, guns were legitimately better than bows, but it took 400 years to get there!

  • @LimakPan

    @LimakPan

    Taiiat - start searching for videos on swordfighting or melee in general. You will be surprised, but everything is exactly the opposite of what you said. All you had to do with a bow is draw it back, which required a lot of strength and then shoot it in the general direction of the enemy together with however many archer the army had. There's no finesse or dexterity needed to operate a bow in a war setting at all nor outside it. When for example hunting, a good aim was needed, but it was all still in the arm muscles, as the bow needed to be kept steady even though the draw strength was usually around 350 newtons. In melee nothing was this easy as both sides are armed, both sides are defending themselves and even if you hit with a wild swing you're opening yourself up to get hit as well. Both before and after the introduction of plate armor, melee required a ton of knowledge on techniques and a lot of courage. There are thousands of medieval books on how to fight in melee that are still used today due to their validity.

    thanks for the bias - swinging an object can get a lot further because you don't require to cut to be effective. it's a good way to but it's not required. see also: Greatswords - exta large metal baseball bats. it all requires much strength, that's aside from pairing that strength with things other than it.

    The Ridley Scott Robin Hood movie, starring Russel Crow, isn't a great movie, but it does get at least a small recommendation from me, for being the only Robin Hood Movie I know that acknowledges that Richard the Lionheart was not some paragon of virtue and chivalry, but a bloodthirsty twat, who got himself killed trying to pillage a castle, belonging to fellow Christian Europeans

    In my opinion, a bow can be interesting as a sci-fi weapon, whether it's armed with arrows constructed from lasers, or a compound bow made with high-tech polymers, it's cool to see a character toting a stringed weapon in a time where lasers are the norm.

    ShadowBanana I'm not into RED just yet, there's not enough series that entertain me yet, but the quality of some of those shows are still lower than this. Ahoy's animations are clean, simplistic and beautiful. The narration is done very well. His research is vast and his final work is extremely in depth. Yes, he may miss out some games here and there, but it's not like he can get everything. He chooses what he thinks to be the most important. It's absolutely amazing

    I have only recently discovered your iconic arms series, but this is the most inspiring take I've seen in it so far! You've managed to summarize what the weapon's stood for across most of the settings we encounter it in, and given plenty of context to illustrate how and why. Add to that that there's a bit to learn for everyone, whether pop culture enthusiast or the history nerd, and you've got the perfect formula. Well done.

    In England you used to train with the longbow every sunday for a few hours so that every person could be used as a fighter if necessary, England was littered with well trained archers during the time. The battle of Agincourt shows how a smaller force comprised of 5/6ths longbowman could face a larger force of heavily armoured knights and men-at-arms

    Literally, that was the battle that taught the world that heavy cavalry wasn't invencible. There was a battle where the Roman army was defeated by the Persian heavy cavalry, and for the next 1400 years everyone believed that using heavy cavalry = instant win button. But Agincourt proved them wrong.
