Bourne's Lost Railway and the Importance of Bridge 234

This video will demonstrate exactly what the town of Bourne has lost in regards to their railway heritage.
Since the 60's Bourne has lost its entire railway heritage. The few remaining buildings are private residences and at present a children's nursery.
Bridge 234 is perfectly located between the community of Bourne and that of Elsea Park. The bridge can stand as a monument to represent our lost railway heritage. The immediate area surrounding the bridge can become an area where locals and visitors alike can feel welcome and comfortable viewing this last public remnant of our golden railway age.
Bourne was a fourway line in Victorian times. The Bourne to Saxby line which included bridge 234 was the first complete system in England to be dismantled giving it national significance.
This is our last chance to save a piece of Bourne's history
Thank you for watching

Thanks for making this video, I lived in Bourne and unfortunately, Bridge 234 has since been demolished for housing.

Yes the bridge should have been demolished. It's a maintenance liability and housing is more important.

I have happy memories pf the station in the 194os and 50s when the station was busy with express dining car trains linking the Midland cities and the Norfolk seaside towns. Alas this was very seasonal and the line could not survive on this alone. Of course there was a lot a financial trickery going on with the ticket receipts allocated to the Midland station of origin and none to the seaside stations. Thanks for the song - who are playing -and the photographs.

We've just read Bellway have gained permission to demolish the bridge! I wonder who got a back hander for that being approved!?

Thank you for posting this Gem, the majority of those pictures I hadn't seen before, I'm sure the station would be well used today given the growth of the town, it would be interesting to know the stations passenger numbers at the time of closure, thank you again for posting.
