Everything you said makes sense. I feel bourbon is straight forward where as scotch seems that the blending is very important. Am I wrong? Cheers

Yes, I know the difference. I was not aware of the 3 year minimum on scotch. Bourbon does not have a minimum age, but to be labeled a “straight bourbon,” it must be aged 2 years or more and if less than 4 years, must contain an age statement somewhere on the bottle. If it just says “bourbon” on the label, it can be aged for less than 2 years, but it must be put into new charred oak at some point. I like them both, but I own much more bourbon than scotch.
