Bounder-on-a-Budget / How to Install New Marking Lights on your RV

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

The old lights were not working reliably, even with new bulbs. I decided to replace the fixtures. Some parts of the job were easy; others more challenging. Hopefully this will help or inspire you in your motorhome DIY projects.

I did that job too. I installed bright LED's. My 12 volt wiring had bolts that were loose and corroded too. I had to remove the cabinets forward inside and remove the cap and rewire the rear 12 volt wiring for the lights. I took out all the bolts and put them on the wire-wheel, then reinstalled them and they work great again. And they're beautiful. Lol Thank you for your videos. I really enjoy them.

Oh wow! I did NOT want to have to take things apart inside the motorhome for this project, so as you saw, I devised a way to do it all from the exterior. Thanks for watching, Kelly!

I just did this job today, front and rear. Replaced them with the same ones that you linked on Amazon. It sure was a pita but well worth it. The weird way they wired the originals was pretty much meant to fail eventually.

At the 13:13 mark I saw the gap to the right of the marker light. What do you use to seal that to keep out water?

That looks real good. I put new lights on my Rexhall like that, After 3 years, all the light fixtures are unreliable again, most soaked with water. I wonder if there is a LED replacement fixture in the same size. Gonna look, because I'm tired of fooling with the broken fixtures on a ladder, usually before a trip.

I won't want to do this job again in just 3 years! The first set were on the RV for 22 years. If I get half that much time out of these, I'll be content. I wanted to get LED bulbs, but reviews were saying they burn out quickly and you end up replacing them at frustratingly short intervals. Don't know if that's true or not....

I would have never know those bolts are wired physically like that.. I assuming you just pull the light switch from inside to ensure they came on or did you have a dashboard switch to turn those on?

Yes, they come on with all the running lights with the pull of the headlight switch.
