Bouncing bomb memorial in the grounds of Petwood Hotel, Woodhall Spa, Lincolnshire, UK.

In 1942 the Petwood hotel became the headquarters of RAF squadron 617 The Dambusters and the Squadron Bar today hosts a range of memorabilia. I parked in the main car park and walked into the garden and found the bomb by chance (I only knew of its existence because I chatted with a local in Woodhall Spa).
Thanks to the lady at reception for allowing me inside for a few minutes (it is a private hotel and I wasn't a guest). I didn't push my luck to take photos beyond the one seen in the video. You can hire the small bar for a private party and if you are into the 617 Squadron there's is loads to see there (I missed the tree branch above the bar).
GPS: 53.15745°, -000.22059° (hotel car park entrance)
GPS: 53.15743°, -000.21933° precise location of the bouncing bomb (I found it by accident)

Very interesting. Pretty hotel. Would be nice to learn more about the remains of the bomb in the park. Thumbs up! :)

I had occasion to stay there a few years ago. Great atmosphere to the place thinking about the 617 squadron, lots of memorabilia, and of course the tree branch collected by a low flying Lancaster.

I've only ever heard people talk about these bouncing bombs. Pretty neat.

You will find that the wooden man next to the bomb is supposed to be Barnes Wallis looking into the sky watching the bomb falling. After the dam raid 617 moved to RAF Woodhall spa.

It saddens me that people don’t know our history, the bomb is a prototype made up to the same weight as the real thing for practice, and obviously the medal is a replica 🙄
