Awesome review. I’m a dev that’s been keeping an eye on the current status of software support on the new Apple chips. It doesn’t surprise me that the android emulators don’t work yet but I’m curious how things like Homebrew, Electron, react native, Flutter, node and python do on these new machines. Those are where I live in my development stacks.

Nice vid. I returned my m1 MacBook Pro for the m1 MacBook Air. No regrets. I found absolutely no difference in performance compared to the pro for my usage (5-6 chrome tabs open, KZread video playing, multiple Microsoft word documents open, chatting on iMessage on the side). I hate the garbage touch bar. It’s completely useless and it boggles my mind that apple hasn’t changed it in any way since its initial release. The speakers sound the same to me as they did in the pro and, although the screen is supposed to be a bit dimmer, I haven’t noticed any difference. Overall I’m very happy with my purchase and urge ppl to get the MacBook Air over the pro.

@@exosujunct4932 1) My father is unemployed right now. 2) Talking about his education-- There is problem in our society these days that they think if a Poor's child is at a high position (let us say IPS, IAS or iit), he must have done a lot of hardwork to achieve that and I personally have no problems with it buttttt the problem is that if someone is rich, people thought that he is rich he can do whatever he wants. He also did a lots of hardwork (I am not aware of his previous education stats).... That's a kind of guy you are if he is spending 75+ lakhs on his education So what's the problem. {Let us take an example if you are spending 5k on your monthly expenses on your school so the poor people will thought that look at this guys we are spending 50rs for school and this guy spending 5000rs} at least he is not wasting his money on stupid works like bars and drinks or girls like most of the people used to do. (Or what if he is spending, his father worked hard to have enough money, and he is spending money to get his son some QUALITY education ). Edit- sorry for that bad English. I am learning.

Great video, great insights. In the end what you told was exactly what I was searching for. The emulator problem and 16 GB ram. Please make back to back videos with m1 mahine especially when the emulation is supported well enough. Also is 256 Gb good enough for programming? Keeping in mind, I own an external hard drive 1tb for all the unimportant stuff like pictures and all.

I am glad I ordered the Macbook Air 16gb. That's the right choice, same M1 chip (no need for 8k editing), 16GB for coding, and the thunberbolt 4 port means I can store all large files video footage on external SSD.

10 years later ..... Harnoor comes on stage at Steve jobs theatre to present apple products. ;)

That's what Marquez was trying to say. Don't buy the M1 powered macbook air right now.

I’m debating on picking up a M1 MacBook Air for photography, but I also do programming. Since you have one, have you tried setting up a vagrant box or Docker? I’m curious as to how well those work in an emulated environment.

Early adopter issue for m1, as time progresses m1 will stomp 16" for everyday tasks and xcode. You should use a laptop stand that can elevate the laptop to provide proper airflow which can reduce the temps.

5:30 most accurate timing ever Jokes aside, this video was very useful as I wasn't sure if I should get 8gb or 16gb for software engineering - but as I'm just a student starting out, I'll stick with 8. I also already have a windows PC with 16gb I can use for programs requiring more power.

The best part of video is, he bought the lower version 😜 That sounds a bit weird. Let me explain. Every reviewer buys high end versions. Apple products are too costly in India. So, buying a high end version is quite impossible, atleast for students like me and we don't get proper idea about the lower version. there are still many programs that aren't designed for the M1 chip. Give it a couple weeks/months at the longest and most if not all programs should be working than.

Before the launch of new macbooks hanoor didn't talk about the fan noise but now he is talking only about fan noise

Are you using vscode via rosetta or arm64 beta? have you tried docker experimental?

Before buying M1 in india I saw lot that of videos and your was the most detailed. Keep up the good work bro 😎

You don't need to buy many macbooks to satisfy all those requirements. Just one good Windows laptop with a good Nvidia or AMD graphics card should be good enough. But if he only wants to buy macbooks then it's his choice and money.
