BATTLE OF THE YEAR 2010 - KOREA (Jinjo) VS JAPAN (Mortal Combat) (OFFICIAL HD VERSION)
The 2010 Braun BOTY finals held in Montpellier, France, was a true celebration of all things hip-hop. Top b-boy crews from around the world competed for the glory of winning the 'world championship of breakdancing'.
The Braun BOTY is much more than a contest. It's a week-long festival of hip-hop culture, featuring 1 vs 1 and We B*Girlz battles, gigs, workshops and more to ensure the event stays true to its b-boy roots - spreading hip-hop culture to a larger public audience.
The Battle Of The Year has come a long way. Who would have thought that BOTY would go from starting out back in 1990 in a local youth culture centre with 500 hard core fans to an arena packed with more than 12,000 roaring spectators and B-Boy crews from all over the world taking part.
BOTY has grown massively, more and more people can relate to the vision of evolving the spirit of breakdance and creating an international event platform that allows B-Boys and B-Girls from all different countries to express their creativity in front of an ever-growing audience

At semis both teams have all their routines and signatures available, its normal that those battles tend to be more epic.

@Paul Tapper doing flips and only powermoves doesn't win you a battle. You have to have variety and musicality
와.. 언제봐도 소름돋는다 진짜 ㅋㅋ jinjo 루틴 끊임 없이 나오네 ㅋㅋ 근데 kaku도 잘하네 ㅋㅋ
This battle would haven been better in the semi were M. Combat could have used their best routines

I have a stupid question. What does Jinjo mean? I'm Korean-American and yet, I don't even know what the word Jinjo means......... And no, it's not ninja. I know that much. Ninja is Jagyaekja or Aamsalja in Korean. Anyways, sick battle. Jinjo is probably the best crew because they won all the major competition, such as Battle of the Year, UK Bboy Championship, Freestyle Session, Red Bull BC One, and R-16 Korea. They're the top 5 major competitions in the world and Jinjo won every one of them.

Stace Myuce I found it. They mentioned it in their performance at Star King. You're right. JinJo is from two chinese characters. They mentioned it by saying 오를진 불사를조. That's where their name Jinjo(진조) comes from. But even then, I still don't know what it means since I don't know anything about the anime they based it off of. Bcz to directly translate it, it means Rising Jin, Burning Fire Jo.

music sucks... as at most of the finals...
was so tired of hearing that dude telling mortal kombat to backup AND sit down.. who the hell tells a crew to sit down? what is this? kindergarten? jinjo was cleaner, executed better. too many crashes n messiness from Mortal Kombat.
MORTAL KOMBAT WINS
BBOY KAKU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Flooriorz are horrible....
the first song: The Funky 3ones - Funky Brixton kzread.info/dash/bejne/k4xmt8l8XcvNgtY.html
Mortal Kombat sucked. Repetitive powermoves, no musicality, sloppy footwork, no creative routine that required teamwork, and millions of crashes. This was an easy wrap for Jinjo just over the fact that they had the whole package. I feel that Koreans were bored and tired of powermove era as they proved it back in early and middle 2000s that Korean bboys moved on to more creative well-rounded package. Mortal Kombat seems stuck with powermoves. Japan would've had better chance of competing against Jinjo if All Area Crew during this time or Flooriorz battled. I feel that even Ichigeki from 2005 would've done better job than Mortal Kombat. Body Carnival(although they weren't big or didn't exist during this time) would've been a better crew to face Jinjo Crew. Kaku with repetitive headspins and 2000s with just different variations every set, Ryoma doing repetitive airchairs, Juju coming out one set just to do handstands, Mika doing one sloppy set with weak airchair are not much creative to see. Japan has the bboys and resources to win BOTY but their lack of having the whole package within one crew is what's preventing them. Ichigeki = creativity but no powermoves and battle tactic. Mortal Kombat = powermoves but no creativity, foundation while crashing almost every set. All Area Crew = good foundations and powermoves but very repetitive and no creativity. Body Carnival = good foundations and creative powermoves but too many crashes. Also, they must know who the judges are and what those judges look for bcz bboying at the end of the day, is figurative. Gamblers only had powermoves back in 2004 but they won BOTY 2004. That same Gamblers crew from 2004 in 2004 form won't stand a chance today. Times change.

+Kevin Hoang (mit) I don't think you quite understood my comment. I said if Gamblerz from 2004 battled under 2004 form today, they would get smoked. It's why Gamblerz improved and adjusted and eventually won 2009 and they constantly keep winning even till this day. It's because they adapt and see what judges and people look for. Bottomline of what I'm trying to say is, rubric of good bboying changes. Back in early 2000s, it was about creative powermoves. People did not focus on crashes, musicality, footwork, as much as they did now. It's why Gamblerz in 2004, despite lacking lot of musicality, footwork, style, etc, they won BOTY. Can they win today using 2004 form? No. Because rubric of bboying has changed a lot. It's why it's important to know what the judges are looking for. In this battle, Mortal Kombat seemed stuck with powermoves era. It feels like they came back from early 2000s, copying 2004 Gamblerz form and try to battle in 2010. Koreans and Gamblerz moved on from that already as they proved it back in early 2000s. My first comment and this comment was not disrespecting Gamblerz crew. I was giving an example of how bboying has changed and rubric has changed. Gamblerz back in 2004 were the best. But during that time, lot of people were into creative, intricate powermoves that crashes, footwork, musicality didn't mean much. But now, they do, hence why Gamblerz adapted, and won. Compare 2009 Gamblerz and 2004 Gamblerz. Completely different.
