Interesting to hear you used 10lbs of Munich and then added the Melanoidin. Great stuff here guys!

Impressive after months of laagering there is still enough yeast to naturally carbonate. It could of course take longer. I wonder if the FG dropped at all in the bottes with the additional yeast and if that is why it drinks a little lighter in body. Thanks for sharing.

Very interesting guys. Keep up this kinds of experiments! Maybe next time an experiment with adding an anti oxidant at bottling hoppy beers?

That cask conditioning yeast will attenuate a little more if you use it use lightly per bottle. Like tiny sprinkle

I wonder if you would have got the same results if you had used ale yeast due to lager yeast loves the cold temps?

Was priming sugar added? Just for clarity. BTW I think I'm going to have to brew this 😆

Sooo, you added dextrose AND bottle conditioning yeast, to each bottle of beer right? Glad to see you guys again. Glad to see Steve looking well. Cheers to you both.

From Steve: "I primed with 8 oz. of Pilsen DME, and inoculated the beer with 11 grams of CBC-1 yeast at bottling." Cheers! - James

I like the experiment sequence that you did so much of in the past. Did it sit on the Que Bueno yeast cake the entire time it lagered?

Thanks for the effort you guys put toward the videos. I wish I had a Negro Modelo clone-ish in my hand now.

Excellent video as always. I am considering buying a counter-pressure bottle filler (Tapcooler) to fill bottles from a keg as I have a tough time slogging through 5 gallons of the same beer from my kegerator. I'm far too lazy to bottle as a convention! Have you or any of your viewers used such a device and what are your thoughts on the impact on the beer?

Michael Lovdahl Thanks! I haven’t used one. I typically take the pressure off the keg and just put enough gas back in to trickle the beer into the bottle. Of course, I only do one or two for Steve to sample on the show. Seems to work pretty well. -James

The Biermuncher Bottle Filler technique works well enough. Though the best solution is to add more taps.

hmm, couldn't you take a gravity measurement of each to confirm the difference?

What rate did you prime with and did you use sugar or dextrose?

I'm pretty sure Steve used these. One per bottle. stevesbrewshop.com/products/carbonation-drops?_pos=1&_sid=6613157f9&_ss=r

@Steven Wilkes Do you find a difference using DME for priming over sugar?
