That bulb-shaped bottle is a torpedo bottle, designed to hold EXTRA carbonated water or flavored soda waters. The shape is designed to keep it from exploding. Very neat design. No Deposit, No Return. XD Great collection there dude!

Thanks so much for the shoutout Ed! There used to be a awesome bottle website called bottleguide... but it was hacked, it listed most Australian and Worldwide Bottles, decriptions, rarity and values, but was bought down by hackers a year ago. Beautiful collection Ed... hopefully I'll find a marble or torpedo bottle soon! I will dedicate my next vid about a 1968 Sharp Walkie Talkie I just found, like new, but won't work.. to you.

I've got an assortment of old bottles. Nothing really old other than a little blue bottle. A rusty beer can that looks like a brake fluid bottle today. Lots of insulators from the railroad where they are taking the telegraph poles down.

My sister has a collection dug up from the old dumpsite when they were digging it out to build a convention centre. Originally a dumpsite then a prison.

Coffee and Chickory is what we do here in Louisiana. It makes it taste a bit more bitter or stronger. I want to say chickory is from lettuce roots that are dried and ground. Chickory can be a coffee substitute of its own.

Very informative video, I didn't actually think I'd be interested in old bottles till I watched it .(I subscribed after finding your video about the EB Falcon back when it was about a week old and have watched virtually all of your videos ever since.) As others have asked, please take the camera when you go bottle hunting I've always been interested in old stuff / the history behind it and the place you are planning to dig at sounds like it probably has good history.

great vid,. In the 70s we could return the bottles for a penny so we were really `green` in them days, did they have the same thing in Aussie Bud?. You are of course right all these great useful, skillfully made items will be here long after we turn to Stardust :)

Bottles I have lots should do a video got about 200! But the football one is wine and was shaped like that so the cork was always wet and the sausage one would be cordial syrup and rounded for the same reason and halls (from Adelaide) lasted until the latex

Chickory is sold as a coffee substitute, Postum (Canadian) and Krakus (Polish) have chicory in it, I think Ovaltine does as well. That chickory and coffee mix must have been a concentrate that you would dilute with hot water. I have all kinds of bottles too, some are older then others, the oldest ones are hand blown and have no seam, some have staggered seams, and others have a continuous seam. Do you have any cold cream jars or bleach bottles?
