Agreed! The pianist really knows how to accompany a solo bassist, which is not easy. This was a superb performance.
Mikyung brought tears to my eyes with this wonderful elegy by Bottesini. She's truly a wonderful double bass player.

I love that you use your thumb right from the knuckle across to the finger nail. I had been told not to do that. Now I will surely do it !! You have inspired me. Not to mention your whole playing is just generally fantasticissimo to begin with.

I think it may be a 1950 Victor Quenoil, but am not certain. Francois Rabbath and Szymon Marciniak also play Quenoils. I do not know her bow make, but I think she uses Spirocores and Pops rosin.

ㅋㅋ 그러게나 말입니다 혹시 음정이 약간 삐끗한 게 있어서 그런지도 ㅎ 실황 연주회에서 그럴 수 도 있지만 전체적으로 음색이 너무 좋고 아름다운 곡이라서 몇 번을 듣곤 하고 있네요

I believe it may be a 1950 Victor Quenoil, and it has been in her family for years, being her primary (only) instrument for quite a few years now. (Her father, who played in the Seoul Philharmonic for 30 years, was her first bass teacher, as well as her older brother’s, and owns several very nice solo basses which Mikyung and Minje have used. I think Minje has one of his own now too.)
