🌷🌼🌻 Oxford Botanic Garden has 400 years of history in one space, making it the oldest botanic garden in the UK. According to the guide, the garden hosts plants from the largest water lilies to the smallest alpine flowers. The botanic garden works closely with the Oxford biology department.
A botanic garden usually includes 5 purposes:
🌷Biodiversity conservation: A botanic garden acts as a living museums of plant diversity.
🌷Environmental education: It educates the public on the importance of plants in ecosystems, and the need of conservation.
🌷Research: Many botanic gardens conduct research on plant biology, ecology, and conservation.
🌷Seed banking: Botanic gardens maintain seed banks to preserve the genetic diversity of plants.
🌷Habitat restoration: It demonstrates environmental friendly gardening methods, inspiring visitors to adopt similar practices in their own gardens.
With a background in biology, I have been studying carbon sequestration by different plant species and forestry for zero carbon package development. This also ties into my work in my business. I want to help companies to offset their carbon emissions by carbon sequestration with landscaping and forestry.
