Boston Celtics experiment, Xavier Tillman saves reserves with game winner vs. Kings

Спорт

The Celtics tried something new, and it worked ... sort of. The Celtics rolled with some unique lineups down the stretch and blew a 19 point lead to the Sacramento Kings, but Xavier Tillman's floater won the game for Boston. John Karalis of Boston Sports Journal talks about taking the opportunity to experiment and how it paid off for the Celtics.

I live in a suburb of Sacramento, so I've rooted for the Kings when Boston isn't involved for years, decades even. So it was sad in the fourth when the Kings made their run, and the broadcasters seemed confused as to why the starters didn't come back in the game after Fox made it clear he was going off. And they thought KP was hurt because he didn't start the 2nd half. They didn't understand until the end that for the Kings, it was a glorious struggle where they were fighting for their playoff lives, but for Boston, it was Friday night practice.

Damn, that must be hard for you. Lol. I understand why though. Kings are right ahead of you. Good luck over there. Nothing I would like better as a diehard Celtics fan than to see the Celtics and Lakers in the finals. that would be the biggest NBA finals in a long time

I love seeing KP share his absolute joy with the world during games. He is so uninhibitedly happy! It's quite the contrast to his past career. I was so pleased that Tilly got that opportunity to score that last bucket. His face showed a complete understanding of what that particular score could mean to the game overall. Those final moments of the game provided a good learning opportunity for young Pritch. He somewhat reminded me of past JB with the forcing at the end. I'm sure that Mazzulla will point out the teammates that were open to Pritch as a result of the Kings going double and triple on him at the end.

I was so excited when they signed him. I knew when they got someone like him it was going to make them so much better and now Porzingis looks like the happiest player in the NBA because he’s finally on a team where he can win a championship.

“X gon give it to ya!” i loved this for X. confident roleplayers are KEY going into the playoffs & that was HUGE for X & his role on this team. i loved his acquisition & have watched him closely in his limited minutes. on the court he has looked like a guy just doing his job… until last night. that was his moment & the sigh he let out when the buzzer went off with his game winner intact was everything. the hugs & daps from the rest of the team- possibly the most talented group of players assembled since the KD Warriors- were just as beautiful. X has bought into the team & the team has bought into him. the game meant nothing to the standings, but confidence & momentum matter & this was a good one. for everybody except Sam Hauser. lol.
