I like the OD3 on lowish settings. It gives you just a bit of crunch but still sounds clean.
At low gain the Od-3 is an always on kind of pedal. The Sd-1 has a mid bump that works great over a nice crunch

The SD-1 is more of my type of sound, but I feel like it would be muddied and get lost in a mix and would need a lot more EQ'ing to make it fit.

They both have input and output buffers, and regardless of that, it's not like any of the circuits on these are particularly sensitive to buffers.
