Kick-ass demo guys ! ODB-3 is the Metal Zone of bass guitar. Such an underrated beast. Its range of sounds is amazing. If you stack it over any Ampeg type Preamp-Di, the fizzy sound gets MUCH warmer. Use it with a passive bass and keep the blend cleanish. Its not a plug and play pedal, needs some time and dedication to find the great sounds that are hidden inside.For all metal bassists out there, that dont actually need tube grind but a distorted sound with metallic-industrial-cold- and inhuman character, this pedal is for you. Long before Darkglass was around this was the way to go for many artists like for example Alex Webster. Is it the best bass OD in 2019 ? Surely not, but for 30-50 $ used you get a proper wall of sound. I will never sell my ODB-3 , i feel a deep connection to this pedal.

Personally I love this pedal but understand why a lot of people seem to dislike it.. when played as a solo track like this it might not suit the listeners taste but they tend forget that unlike some other dirt boxes that sound great as a solo track, this pedal cuts through the mix in a live scenario very well and a lot of the so called "unpleasant high end fizz" gets lost in the mix leaving a very usable tone with full bottom end and punch, or at least I have found in my experience.

Good, underrated (or overbashed) pedal. I find that it has two minor flaws: WAY too much gain and WAY too much treble on tap. My solution is to dial the volume, bass, and treble to unity, set gain at zero, and use the BLEND knob to set the dirt. Very nice drive sounds are the result.
@thunderboltavenger7684
7 жыл бұрын
ODB-3 is mostly a distortion than an overdrive, in terms of perceived distortion, due to its high gain as you noted, I think that's why it is underrated. Problem with blends are that below a value you feel two different instruments, no "real" blend, just a mix ... blend in bass pedals should be more than just a mixer, a crossover should be a must. But anyway, as I always say, sound is not good or bad, is just how you use it and how it works on the context it is used.

For drive pedals, generally I want them louder than the clean sound. I tend to set the drive pretty low and volume high. So it's partly acting as a boost and some of the drive is coming from hitting my amp's pre with a hotter signal. Maybe a weird approach, but it has worked well for me.
@kristdelgado
6 жыл бұрын
First of all this pedals lacks bottom end.... The best and cheap solution is 2 Signals at the same time : Signal a) Electric bass + Boss LMB-3 + Boss OC-3 (please a low octave sound)... Signal B) Using the Direct Output of Boss OC-3 send the dry tone to Boss ODB+3. Result? a Dirty and punchier tone. The way is meant to be.

Dropping the amount on the Volume Knob, will Lower the Distortion. This could be Really Handy for going between Verse & Chorus Sections, without having to mess with the pedal while playing Live! This is by far the best demo of this pedal I have ever heard. Most other demo's sound terrible.
Can’t wait to wake my neighbors with this one

Been searching for B over drive. Sold! This is the answer. Bad ass!
I am very fond of this pedal. My current use for it is after a distortion, I set the bass knob really fucking high and the dry almost all-left with gain set like at 7 or 6:30.
Sold! I'm getting one of these next month!
@thunderboltavenger7684

I have several drive pedals and last week I decided to try this boss pedal so I looked for one of this. I found a used one for 65 bucks in a very good condition in my neighborhood. I picked it up today and the firsts impressions are good. You get usable tones if you are gentle with the gain and the blend knobs. I'll try in a rehearsal next Friday.
I would love to see you guys having a go on the od-3
Exellent!
The best!
AaaHHhhh - Eye Opener! My favorite part of this Video (which, I'll be working with later) is the part showing the Volume Knob Adjustments! Dropping the amount on the Volume Knob, will Lower the Distortion. This could be Really Handy for going between Verse & Chorus Sections, without having to mess with the pedal while playing Live! Such an Awesome Bass 'HOT' Distortion Pedal! I know, it 'Says' Over Drive. But, Trust Me - This thing can get Hot Distortion, when Cranked! You can Dial it back & get Over Drive too!
