I just beat this as Leang today on hard!! Absolutely insane match. Some critical things to add: Garrisoning tank hunters or the missile infantry inside the buildings at the top of the city early game saves a lot of headache with the north waves. A dozer should be hiding behind the building to constantly fix. This allows you to focus all helis on the southern waves. The dragon tank fire walls can be used to defend the southern bridge or the hill. Avengers should be behind the dragon tanks to protect against scuds and buggies. Add a prop tower for buffs. I find overlords to be inconsistent and slow for defending. Use snipers and helis to push northeast and get the supply dock. The dragon tank sneak attack is genius, Legi. This was the mvp (most valuable play) lol

7:54 "Our victories will earn us more money!" is the cut line for the Cash Bounty upgrade quote. I think they originally planned it as purchaseable upgrade but later changed it to Generals power. The other quotes are "We will gain wealth from destroying the enemies!" and "A cash bounty will help our cause!" which can be found in the game files. As how did you trigger it here, I have no idea.

GLA and USA were supposed to have their Boss Generals Deathstrike and Ironside. Unfortunately the development was cut so they are only mentioned in the files and their voicelines were re-used in the Shockwave mod.

The quods are defensive, they only attack forces outside your base. With the sneak attack you could capture the scad and still GLA

When you first got the tunnel attack with the 3 dragon tanks into the enemy base to take out the superweapon you could have brought a sniper, which could have then prevented the command center from being rebuilt.

This mission becomes super easy when you hold the bridges

It seems that the strategy should be capture his scud storm and command center instead of destroying them, use his scud storm and then you can have a much easier challenge

Btw rocket buggys without upgrades are weak. You really need something like 3 to destroy 1 quad, so it's not that good. And when you make scud, you better switch to scuds, at least because they not tend to roll too close. So spamming tomahawks could help a lot, and will remove defence quite effectively)

yeah i do think upgraded rocket buggies would do well. i was also wonder if angry mobs (with AK-47s) would be any good. they did surprisingly well vs the quad cannon at 41:03. they would also be able to shred the bikes, and they're cheap at $800. in theory, if u add some avengers (for SCUD missile protection), it could work quite well 🤔

use GenPatcher, go to Installation Info, and click on the Zero Hour installation game directory link. extract the file there, and it should work :)

*Totally* should have gotten a bunker helix with couple pathfinders and RPGs in there. It would have been a ton less painful to deal with stingers, bikes and quads. Also.. does boss general not have EMP tanks?

wouldnt his quads just absolutely shred the lixes? in all fairness, i didn't try it. i only did the attempts shown in the video. the problem with the stinger sites is that there are many of them close together. i'd have to micro my lixes separately to target the different stinger site guys. i mean.. it's possible, but would be quite tough to pull off

But you already had a nice helix stack, and one with a bunker would both help with stingers and have some building damage to erase sneak attacks, take down stingers and quads quicker, even help against demo trucks perhaps. Effectiveness multiplier, basically. Also, all your other units work better if rebel ambushes are dealt quickly, your overlords target something more important, etc

Next hell will be stealth vs demo

Should have used mine drops more. They recharge fast but hang there unused for a long time. Could have helped with all those waves.

yes, challenge_boss.big includes the demolition challenge. the infantry challenge is not included cuz it was very broken, and i only managed to get it working through video editing and cannibalizing a playable general for it :/ @@michimonster2

Haven't watched yet but 59mins lmao I can imagine the many retries to finish this challenge lol. These quads can't be normal they deal way more damage than usual they're definitely buffed up. No veterancy nor scrapped up and they do this level of damage the AI is definitely cheating.

mmm not always. i think the units take different paths of getting into the base, and just attack whatever they find. and i think some of the general powers are always in the same spots (rebel ambush & anthrax bomb). but for his SCUD Storm and Sneak Attack, yeah you're right, i think he always goes for the highest value targets

Why not bunkers just for the mines? He's a seriel suicider
