If anyone is having problems with getting the pedal to work, there was one little step that wasn't mentioned here that immediately worked for me after you've set it up the way Rabea does for Plugins. Click the COG icon in the bottom left corner of your Neural DSP Plugin and make sure the "MIDI Input Devices" Category has a checkmark next to your EV-1 WL Bluetooth pedal. This immediately allowed the pedal to communicate with the plugin for me. Hopefully this helps others too!

I bought this pedal and I bought a Boss SY 200. I plugged in the TRS cable into the side of the Expression pedal into the back of the SY 200 and nothing happened. Is this how it's supposed to work ? There's nothing online that tells you how to hook this up, so I'm not sure if it's broken or I have it hooked up wrong. Not sure how else I'd plug it in though. Don't the other outputs go to your computer ? Hopefully you can walk me through it. Thanks !

OMG! Thanks Rabea, I was just going to throw this pedal out the window because I couldn't get the WOW to work like it should in the stand alone. Great explanation on how to hook this thing up.

After receiving the EV-1-WL recently, I tried setting it up with BIAS FX2 on my own. After struggling to get it to MIDI learn the pedal, your video on sidechaining in Logic Pro X was the solution I needed! Big thanks!

@@officiallyjuan7047 I just setup the guitar on one track, and then BIAS FX 2 as a MIDI FX on a software track, and sidechain that one to guitar input track.

YES!!! I have been looking for something exactly like this. I have Amplitube 5 for PC and Bias FX2 for iPad AND a Katana 50 mk2 and couldn't find anything to use the wah and whammy functions on all 3. Kewl! We're in the future and we lived to tell about it ... I'm stuck in a studio with alternativs but I can imagine this thing is a nobrainer live and all of what you need fits in a small bag.

AIRSTEP is hands down the best foot controller for plugins. Controls everything and comes setup for this out of the box.

I have Airstep and love it but this is an expression pedal that lets you shape your sound. Apples & Oranges.

Nice I was actually searching a midi expression pedal to use with my Neural plugins!

Man, you saved hours for me, thanks a lot. Now I have a Wah for my virtual Tone King!

Hope this helps someone, if you were like me and unable to figure out how to record in a DAW. Thanks to awesome pedal show for this solution. To record and actually get audio, create an audio track and software track, record on the software instrument track as described in the video with your side chain set up. After recording, change your software instrument's side chain input to the audio track instead of your audio input, and mute the audio track.

Nice job, Rabea. I especially like the ability to attach the FS-6 to the EV-1. I am putting together an entirely battery-powered one-man show based around Roland Cube amps and a Microsoft Surface Pro 7. The Surface Pro running my backing tracks and Studio Devil amp sim in Cubase. While I could use my Beat Bars USB MIDI expression pedal attached to the Surface Pro to control my wah plugin, having the blue tooth Boss would mean one less wire to connect and no power drain off the Surface Pro battery. BTW, I've enjoyed your videos over the years in general.

I just got the EV 1 and got it working with Neural in Logic Pro by simply using Command L midi learn didn't need to use Neural as an AU midi effect just ran audio directly into a standard instance of the Petrucci Plug in and "voil-wha" it worked. hehe

Great demonstration, Rabea! Can listen to you play for hours on end.

! Better yet - Open up any N.DSP and enable the MIDI ports first. Then right click on any effect or pedlal and "Learn MIDI" will pop up. Maps it faster.

Every time you would move the expression it would have a very "plastic-y" sound to it. Makes me worried it wouldn't do well on stage over time, which seems surprising because for years I considered Boss the standard all pedals had to meet for minimum toughness. I know many will use it for DAW/Studio work, but there's those of use playing software live and would love stuff like this, if it indeed just works, and works reliably. Full disclosure, I'm running Amplitube controlled with a line6 shortbroard mkii. And yes, that's my live rig. And ironically I play my loud tube amps at home...

This is great. The only other Midi expression pedal I have found is the beat bars one, but it doesn't have bluetooth and is more expensive (esp since it only ships from Europe).

Hi Rabea. Sorry to bug but what your opinion on reg traditional pedals versus digital. I've spent the past 2 years trying to build the perfect old school system you know all amps and pedals maybe a mixer. Then they came out with neural. My think is which is better on stage and off?

Could you use this, along side let’s say the Airstep lite into the plug-in? Meaning, can I run two midi controllers into the plug-in at the same time? Would be running into the stand alone neural dsp plug-ins

Hi. I have a problem with the Ex-3 beat bars expression pedal. I have no switch on it.(except a switch USB or midi so I choose USB) How to map it correctly? I tried it also on Tom morello Plug-in from Dsp I change usb connection on pc but it doesn't work. In the parameters the pedal is install and active. 😢

Hey Rabea I have this pedal and using Logic Pro and Neural Dsp as well. I can’t record the expression sound in logic, I’m using petrucci plugin with the Wah. During recording I’ll get the Wah sound but playing it back, it’s only the guitar. You’ve explained it briefly about setting a virtual track. Can you kindly explain it further?

Great video! I have a problem with this pedal! I use it with the plugins on the iPad and I practically assigned the cc 11 to the expression pedal to have an excursion of the gain overdrive, mix delay etc etc while to the swich I assigned the cc 95 to activate the Wha! The problem is that when I activate the Wha and go up and down with the pedal, all the values assigned with the cc11 also intervene !! So the Wha works but of course the gain of the overdrive also goes from 0 to 100 every time the pedal goes up and down! Is all this normal?

Sooo... is this how the FCB1010 should be mapped also, in CC Absolute?

*Solved. For some bizzare reason, you MUST have your GPS location data switched on for it to detect the pedal!! i have no idea why, but as soon as I switched it on, it worked.

I bought the pedal to control the Petrucci Archetype Wah. I was able to get it all set up in Logic. One issue: the latency is HORRIBLE. It’s practically unrecordable. Any solutions?

Have you tried using a cable? on Windows, I can't get it to work via bluetooth, it connects but the blue light keeps flashing.

what about using it with a real midi cable?

The setup in Logic makes no sense. The midi controlled instrument (Wong) outputs to 15-16, the virtual Wong Audio channels gets the input from 27?? Where does the 27 come from? I get nothing as soon as I change the output on my "Wong" instrument away from Stereo Out, the bars are moving but no audio, mind you I only work with a Scarlett 6i6, so I don't have a trillion inputs and outputs. Utterly confused, Rabea doesn't really explain this part properly. Any hints or links to better vids?

OK, I just got this but for the life of me can't figure out how to get this to work on a windows machine. Anyone have any luck with using reaper and this pedal? There is no such thing as a midi setup on a PC that I can find. Can anyone help me out here?

​@@paulineh6772 ya Roland WM-1D dongle. bluetooth and midi and windows doesn't work yet apparently? theres convoluted workarounds. i tried one but couldnt get it going with this pedal. usb works fine though. you just need the oldschool cord

Mmmm, I can’t wait to wade into that thicket of potential misunderstandings and tech problems!

The best thing about this "wireless pedal" is that it won't work wirelessly with a PC! you have to spend an extra £60 for a BOSS WM-1D Wireless MIDI dongle. So, to use the "wireless" pedal with a PC, you have to use the USB cable. Wired wireless technology is the future! (sarcasm).

i think this sort of pedal used with logic pro or any other similar, is a major problem when doing multi tracks... so to run the midi you have to mute other track when recording or play back..this is a fine mess... either logic fix this problem or pedal needs to be scrapped.. need a pedal with guitar input option for use with midi, prior to the software, that might be an idea.. bottom line is.. this pedal cant be used for recording.. i made a big mistake in buying it... its usless.

cool tech but that's a 100% no from me. i like to play guitar, pedals, tube amp, real loud. i do it to get the demons out, not sit in front of a computer and deep dive into 1's and 0's.. cool cool tech no doubt though.
