Bosnian Muslim Survivor Almedina Dautbašić-Memišević | Women’s History Month | USC Shoah Foundation

Bosnian Muslim genocide survivor, Almedina Dautbašić-Memišević, was born in Ljubovija, Yugoslavia in 1982. Almedina was interviewed in Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2021. Please enable closed captioning for English translation.
In 2022, USC Shoah Foundation integrated testimonies of survivors and witnesses of the 1992-1995 war in Bosnia-Herzegovina, with a particular emphasis on the 1995 genocide in Srebrenica. The integration is the result of the Institute’s partnership with the Srebrenica Memorial Center.
USC Shoah Foundation’s Visual History Archive currently contains 20 testimonies of survivors and witnesses of the war and the 1995 Srebrenica genocide in Bosnia-Herzegovina. The testimonies had been recorded by the Srebrenica Memorial Center in collaboration with Balkan Investigative Research Network (BIRN) in 2020 and 2021 in several towns and cities in Bosnia. The collection contains 8 testimonies by male and 12 testimonies by female interviewees. The testimonies were recorded following the oral history methodology and they cover the prewar, wartime, and postwar periods. All testimonies are in Bosnian.

May Allah keep giving the sister many more miracles, as He gives martyrdom with Paradise to all those brothers and sisters murdered in the Bosnian Holocaust, (rarely covered by most news channels). Sura 17:33, “Nor take life - which Allah has made sacred - except for just cause.”

There is no such thing as a 'Bosnian' those are just simply individuals who are descendants of serbs who were forced into Islam as their religion during Turkish occupation. Many others were raped by Turks and the serbs who were descendents of these individuals grew to call themselves 'Bosnians' in an attempt to distinguish themselves from serbs. The same goes for 'Kosovars' as these are simply Albanians who have occupied Kosovo and thus have invented a racial category in the same attempt to sound like a legitimate nation/people. An example would be like how the English (aka Anglo-Saxon) settlers to what would become the US called themselves 'Americans' when they were simply Anglo-Saxons.

@Got It It is fundamental to understanding 'Balkanization' and why that term/concept is contrived.

Muslimani su klali i silovali srpske zene i djecu. Zasto nisi napravila intervju sa tim zenema? Misliš da je to lično samo muslimanima. A sta je sa poklanim srbima u Zimci kod Visokog?
