I have a Bose Wave Radio with top load CD player. I purchased as a Christmas gift for my Mom, gosh, almost 25 years ago. Mom is gone, but I still have the Bose radio and use it every week day as my alarm clock, CD still works fine and it is the best sounding alarm clock radio of its time and still worthy today.

Wow, it's a NorCal mini-movie! I always wondered what the interior of one of those looks like. Love the content...and the Shango reference!

It is hart breaking when some thing leaves the shop with a red tag. I have watched your videos for a long time and wondered what you did for your primary job. By the looks of your hands I knew you did a labor intense job. Great man! ❤ I was a member of IBEW Local 261 for 21 years. Started as a gofer to Elections Service Engineer 1st class specialist. A good thorough testing of the board there. I've done a lot of work on vehicle instrument clusters and am shocked at how good SMD solder joints look under magnification when they're actually not connected. Maybe a quick reflow of all those resistors would be worth a shot. It could be waiting for some kind of response from the tuner circuit before updating the display. I had a car radio with no audio and a reflow of the tuner module fixed that.

I feel your boots my friend. Due to cheap components and poorly made board, it is nearly impossible to fix those things. Its like fixing robot vacume cleaner. Thay make them so you need to buy new unit when it breakes down. You were one of my best teachers here on youtube and i knew after 10 minutes that this task might be a faill. Try fixing bluetuth earbuds. Anyway, Thank you for your videos and your help.

Those pisky DRM and non redundant half bake software, causing these ridiculous problems. If it is out of warranty, I'll recommend to convert it to a bluetooth speaker, with half decent universal bluetooth receiver board.😅

Excellent idea and so you can still use that tuned porting and amplification module for at least a while longer, but if it were me, I'd gut the whole damned thing and start over. Just use the enclosure and revitalize/refresh everything with nearly all new components, even right down to the power supply that even has a stronger power output and perhaps also ad in an EQ mode as well with BT at you finger tips via an older Motorola or Samsung rock solid flagship feature phone! Those speakers can also be replaced with a newer speaker that has a fairly larger driver coil that is better tuned than yester year perhaps already cheap speakers that came in it to begin with. I say for about 150 bucks, you can refurbish this with all new components and have a very decent sounding rig that is equal to if not better than original provided that the cabinet is in great condition to start with. The already quoted 150 bucks may even get you a new CD/DVD player as well, all in a very neat little package to include the making use of auxiliary extension speaker jacks cleverly mounted if space is available as well! Fore if you were not to go that route you can install the more up to date BT module that is able to establish and facilitate multiple BT speakers that could either maintain a Quadraphonic setup OR at best a 2.1 or 2.2 channels at the very least OR a combination of Quadraphonic and 4.2 at best!! If you already have an older flagship phone and at least a pair of fairly decent BT speakers OR at least a 2.1 base speaker that has a built in amplifier for 2 other channels, nearly half the battle is won provided that you incorporate a BT receiver built into it! If all conditions are already met with what you already have laying around, well then you can have an outcome of at least the makeup of 4.1 channels of sound right from the git-go and that's not all either!! At the heart of that tuned Bose chamber, I would look at taking a and blowing a hole into the bottom of that chamber (on center) if at all possible and clear through the bottom of the cabinet so as you can install a downward firing of a passive base rubber diaphragm speaker that lets out the base clear down through the bottom of the enclosure, thus making a total 4.2 channels of sound. Big kudo's to you Mohammed for that all inspiring idea that makes perfect sense and I'd most willingly bet that you might try that yourself!

I spend several hours trying to figure out how to repair one of these too, without having any success. I changed capacitor in the power supply that was questionable. Didn't help. That's it.

I've not had a great track record repairing those bose units, so I'm no longer willing to try, unless the problem is obvious.

Looks like the tuner isn't responding for some reason, and the main CPU is locked up trying to communicate with it. I see it's a TDA7705 which is common in car radios(?) and whose datasheet is available. It uses either I2C or SPI to communicate, so you should be able to probe those lines with a scope or logic analyser to see what's going on.

Eight bazillion of these on the goodwill site. People keep buying them and I can’t help but wonder if they all end up in the heap.

I fixed a very similar but maybe a little older AWRCCJ a couple years ago. No sound. Ended up replacing the SMD electrolytic capacitors under a shield, then it started working. I still have it, and it's okay. Does not make my room sound like a concert hall. Paul Harvey lied.

I fixed this a year ago, can’t seem to fix it again. It was some button pressing that made it work last time, can’t figure it out.

Without a full schematic i would be in hell. i had to realise that i can't repair everything. I did repair one of those Bose, but it was a really really simple fix, the lazer sled switch was open circuit. I found an identical switch from my pile of 10 year old rubbish. One day you will get another bose in, then you can jot down some of the voltages :-D

its cheaper to buy another used unit than to try and get something fixed in many instances. I made the mistake of buying a Yamaha reciever at an estate sale without testing it thouroughly. when i got home, didnt work. so i thought, ill just take it to the shop and have them fix it. after a week the shop called, says they cant fix it. offered to charge me for all new circuit board for the reciever for 300 dollars. ummm no. so i then paid the guy 60 bucks for not fixing it. it happens. i hate to throw nice gear out, but at some point, what other option do you have ? EU has started to make laws saying things must be more repairable, for example a cell phone battery you the consumer can replace. its way over due. where is the US Govt on this matter ? doing nothing as usual except spending us into obliviion for nothing.

SC as in Service Control Error (maybe)?? A hand off to place the entire system in control for full operation, maybe?? Tis mostly a controller module issue at least I would think/thunk! The other thing that crossed my mind is whether the remote is properly or perfectly matched with the unit itself OR whether a replacement remote was purchased as a result of loss of a remote in the first place!!
