As usual an excellent review. I bought the sound bar based on your recommendation. And you’re absolutely correct. It is fantastic. There are Bose lovers and Bose haters. I am a Bose lover. You gave very good instructions. The only problem I had was when I first plugged it in to power, I did not get that tone that you were talking about right away. It turned out I did not have the power cord all the way in to the Bose. After I got it in it’s still took about a minute. But just in time to watch Saturday night live.

I want to send you a big thumbs up 👍👍, I got mine the other day, went through the set up, good to go but sound was sounding on the flat side, however, after making some adjustments on my phone, went back and change the settings on my Xbox, and now everything is crystal clear, bass include, and above all, my video games, movie, TV, I hear everything, and I do mean everything. In my man cave, it's just a matter of sitting down with your snacks and enjoy all the sounds sitting right there in the room, I must admit it's amazingly impressed, relax and enjoy.

This is a fantastic soundbar! I bought it for my RV originally but decided to put it in the house due to the app needing wifi to work. I wish Bose would have given this a better remote that didn't require the app, so I ended up installing my Bose Solo 5 in the RV instead. The sound between the two is night and day though, so I really miss it in the RV.

Great video, Steve. This speaker is awesome! But, coming from Bose, that's no surprise. They've been building cool audio for years. I have a Bose audio system in my GMC Pickup and it kicks ass! Keep up the good work.

I am thinking of buying my own, still having some questions, though: 1) Since the Soundbar is connected via wifi with my homenetwork, is it able to stream internet radio, and streaming services like netflix, amazon prime and youtube? 2) My (quite old) TV doesn't have an optical input. How can I get great sound for gaming, if the HDMI input is used by the TV (would it work to connect gamingconsole with TV and TV with soundbar?) 3) Is it only possible to connect with other Bose speakers? I do have two Teufel boomster go at home. Could I connect them and use them as RearSpeakers? Thanks a lot for your help!

Thanks Steve, your review has sold it to me, we have a Panasonic sound bar where there appears to be little or no clarity on voices in TV dramas, and my wife is forever re winding or asking me what was said !!! I’m a man and can’t multi task ie listen and speak at the same time, hopefully the Bose 300 will allow me to watch TV in peace. @@TechSteve Hi Steve, soundbar is great, we brought the surround speakers as well, wasn’t to sure about them at first as the sound from rear speakers was so quite, I contacted Bose and they couldn’t help with the lack of volume, I then found out by mistake how to get the full surround when I turned off the Dialogue switch to off and hey presto the surround sound is incredible. Shame Bose doesn’t show this in their instructions when buying rear speakers

Hi Steve, this sound bar is good in my price range. I live in a room in someone else’s house so I’m not in a master bedroom. So another thing you should know is I don’t have room to place a subwoofer. So, will this soundbar be good for me by itself meaning without a subwoofer and even if it doesn’t have Dolby Atmos? I don’t use Netflix, but I have a good sized 4K UHD disc collection, some of which does have Dolby atmos in its sound codecs. I also don’t use Alexa. Never been my thing. Thank you

Can you program a universal TV remote to control the volume when you’re using the optical port from tv? I only have 2 HDMI ports on my TV, so I’d rather not take up 1 of 2 ports for that. Still need a streaming box and a Blu-ray (yes I still use it lol) or gaming system

Question about the small rear speakers to add surround sound… Are these almost like tweeters? I’m finding very little sound actually coming out of them!

I read somewhere optical is the only way this bar will support Dolby digital. I also read in general optical won’t play Dolby and it will switch it to a 2.1 system even if you have a 3.1 system. Also I’m not sure to use bitstream or psm

Hopefully a quick answer: I got this and the 500 base module for $800. I definitely prefer a soundbar setup, so that of the way, would a ATMOS soundbar from Sony, Samsung etc at the same price range be a better option? Or do you think I’d be sacrificing actual sound quality for the object-based sound?

Kind of answered my own question. I went to Best Buy and played the demos on this and Samsung / Sony with ATMOS and priced around $700 before discounts. ATMOS cannot be demonstrated in a Best Buy with a super high ceiling, but the sound quality itself was definitively better on the Bose Smart Soundbar 300. Seeing as how ATMOS won’t be working in all content, you get better sound from this Bose than its ATMOS competitors most of the time, if not at all times.

Is the sound bar having built in features of Alexa or Google, so we have to buy separately those devices.

Steve you have really helped me with my recent buys. I have bought a Samsung q60t because of your review and we love it. We bought it at Costco and also bought a Samsung budget sound bar HW-T50M . We are disappointed in the voice quality as the voice seems a bit muffled when mixed with movie sounds. What is your thoughts on Bose 300 compared to Bose 5 sound bars. I know they hit different price points but is the 300 much better than the Solo 5? ( 300 is double the price of Solo 5 here in Canada). Thanks

I’m a reviewer but I don’t review everything on the market nor do I work for a company where I have a showroom full of products. I do what i can being a independent reviewer who buy most of my own products. You would have to start a KZread channel and start getting 100s of comments daily to truly understand how difficult this really is, I do what I can. Sorry if you feel the way you do but I’m working hard as I possible can.

Great video. The amber light doesn't stop blinking on my Bose 300. I don't know what to do to make it stop blinking. Any quick suggestions? Any would be appreciated. If I can't get it to stop I will just give it back.

hi, my grandmother told me to buy a soundbar and help them install the soundbar, they dont have internet at home, is there any way to setup without wifi with the bose app, or if I use the bose app and make a hotspot on my iphone to get a "wifi", they only want better sound and guest can use bluetooth to play music without wifi// thomas palm

I have one of these. It's fine as a basic soundbar but I couldn't recommend it as a Google Assistant device because (a) The Assistant voice is three times louder than the media volume (WHY??) and there's no independent volume control (b) playing BBC radio is unreliable and Google will often say it can't find the station, which rarely happens on other Google devices and (c) when the TV switches on, the input doesn't switch back from the external device until you do this in the app - not very "smart" in my book!

Hey Steve, question so whenever my tv turns on my soundbar takes like around 7 seconds for the sound to start coming in? Is that normal? Before the sound would come on right away. It synced already to the tv so I don’t get why it takes long? I know it’s not that big of a deal but i just want the sound to start right away like before?

I have experience that with HDMI ARC, if you’re using optic sync it has to sense the signal then it turns on

I'm looking for a "basic" setup for my TV and was considering this over the Bose tv speaker because of the better sound quality but don't want another smart device at home connecting to the internet and all that.

Not really, try to go to source, connect guide, audio device and go thru the HDMI eARC setup, this may stop it from switching off with auto mode

I have an edifier setup 1280 db and apple tv 4k to stream content. The Apple’s reduce noise option keep the dynamic audio intact and raise the dialogue. Earlier I was missing the dialogues but now all fine.

I have mine at 80 bass and negative 70 on treble for movies. For music, i prefer negative 10 or 20 on treble with same bass. I currently do not have a bass module.

So how does this sound without the subwoofer I’m looking at getting one. I like to watch movies and tv loud. Just hoping the base is good enough.

Question ..is the 300 better than the solo 5 and does it do more or its just the speakers? Tks

Does this work without tv? I was thinking on using it only for music at the store

Yes, but you need the app to control it.

I have the Samsung soundbar, but this one looks nice, and it has Alexa built in...wow

I had the samsung soundbar from Costco, the one that's 500 bucks but on sale for like 350 or something, and it was ok I mean the soundbar was cool but the surround and bass speakers I didn't like. Right now I have the soundbar 300 from Bose, not this one because this one is smart 300 mine is just 300 I guess I know it's weird. But this soundbar sounds amazing really the only difference supposedly from mine and the 700 I don't have Alexa built in but it sounds awesome and might be a more affordable option for you! I am going to be getting the new 900 with dolby atmos so I'll be selling mine still has like at least a year warranty, maybe 300 I'll sell it or maybe less idk

Hi Steve,Great video. I purchased the product and have one question…. The tone from the speaker that comes on at the initial power up,is that the only time you hear that tone? Thank u in advance.

Is bose virtually invisible 300 the same as bose surround speakers? I can' t find any answers from bose site.

No, so they have been out of both the 300 and 700 surround speakers, the 300 cost 300 dollars and the 700 cost 500, I have been looking for a year trying to buy these and finally today I bought them, the 700 surround is supposed to be a lot better, you can't buy them on the website yet you need to call them and order them I would do it soon since there have been a lot of people waiting and they told me they have 70 something to sell

Which best smart 300 or sonos beam what should I buy?

Hi Steve my tv will not automatically connect or use this sound bar when I turn on my tv and many times it won't give sound, it seems sporadic? Any ideas?

It happens to me too

I just added outside under my deck/porch in back yard connected to outside tv. Will I be okay?? I’m nervous amount elements. Maybe you can recommend a cover.

I ordered the Bose Soundbar 300 because I trust your reviews. I need to purchase the HMDI cable but don’t want to spend $50.00 for one. What is a good price point for the cable?
