In this review, I talk about the Bose CineMate Series II 2.1 channel speaker system. I really like these speakers just because they're really enjoyable to listen to, but the ultimate question is "should you buy them..."

    I have the GS 2 series with lovely metal stands and it's definitely not 5.1 but the bass is great, no clutter and does a decent job at mimicking surround sound. Surely worth the $ and I've had many actual 5.1 systems and soundbars. I'm happy with my Gem Stone 2 series.

    Hi, I tried to remove the wires from the back of the speakers but they seem to be locked into the speakers now. Could someone tell me what the trick is for removing the wire clips from the back of the speakers? Thanks, Tony

  • @ELMtreeProductions

    +Tony Gruber There aren't really clips, they're just really really tight. Grab the cable close to the end and wiggle it really hard left to right while tugging on it. It takes a little while, but they will come out eventually. Once you put them in and take them out enough times it gets much looser. Hope this helps!

    Can Bose 2.1 be converted into 5.1, using a new receiver and extra speakers ?

  • @ELMtreeProductions

    @ELMtreeProductions

    4 жыл бұрын

    Nope. Bose stuff is super heavily integrated and there's a ton of DSP involved in getting them to sound good so you can't really separate their systems. I guess you could sort of use them as front L and R if your reciever has pre outs, but you'd want your center to be voiced the same and you're not going to find a center that matches.

    ELMtree Productions appreciate your swift response. Thanks. I have Cinemate 2, almost 7 years old now. Never felt need of any other speakers so far. These are great till this date. Now with new Dolby Atoms and what not technology, I was thinking how can I upgrade without costing a mammoth.

  • @ELMtreeProductions

    Yeah that's one of the problems with Bose gear. If you want to upgrade, you have to start over every time.

    I inherited one of these fthings. I wanted to like it but the midrange coloration of the satellite speakers irritates me the more I listen. The upper mids (female voice) is too forward and "blatty". The subwoofer is better than the sattelites but it's kind of boomy with poor pitch definition. Worst of all there is no audio adjustments for the system. No equalizer settings, not even bass or treble controls. Only a volume control and subwoofer level. VERY unacceptable at the price but thankfully I didn't have to pay for it.

    I must agree. I've had these for about 9 months now and they're slowly starting to annoy me more and more. My biggest issues is those midrange issues you were talking about and the sub does not hit low at all. I guess that's Bose tho...

    You think Bose companion 5 is better than this when it comes to sound quality?

  • @ELMtreeProductions

    @ELMtreeProductions

    5 жыл бұрын

    I haven't heard the Companion 5s, but probably not. They probably don't have the same presence these speakers have. These speakers sound really big, and since the Companion 5s are smaller, the sound probably reflects that.

    Ahhhh cool, Comp 5 hooks thru pc or laptop by USB giving it a true digital connection for more detailed sound. I have one, heard one of this but not long enough to tell the diff.

    The CineMate has a TOSLINK in so it also supports digital audio as well. Since making the review, I've gotten a Chromecast Audio and there really is a noticeable difference between the RCA in and optical in.
