SO you say you can change the display from Kph to mph BUT neglect to show how to do this ? Can two add this perhaps

This was one of the most useful, best narrated dealer videos I've ever seen. Clear, comprehensive and without any annoying hobo music. Thank you! One tiny question: the display is run by two separate button cells, right? What happens to the total mileage/odometer reading once I change these? Will it go back to 0?

Thanks for the feedback. Indeed there are just standard button cells / watch type batteries in the unit that can be replaced by unscrewing the cover on the bottom of the display. According to Bosch the data will remain active in the system and won't go back to "0". Great question!

do you know how to find out your battery life on a cube?

Hello, thank you for your inquiry . The "Total" miles can not be erased from the unit as its purpose is to keep track of the miles for the life of the bike, just like the odometer on your car. You can however reset the "Trip" value, as to help you keep track of your shorter travels, whether it be daily, weekly or per charge cycle if you wish. Hello Andreas, On the Purion display you cannot change the wheel circumference. The only way to make changes is to have your local authorized dealer connect your bike to the dealer software and modify the circumference for you. Hope this helps! Will

Ron, thanks for the comments. Unfortunately once a bike is programmed at the manufacturer (wheel diameter, gearing ratios etc......) and configured into the drive unit, that data remains with the bike. If ever a motor swap out would be required the programming from the original drive unit would be sent over to the replacement. This is all controlled by Bosch in order to ensure that the bikes remain safe and in full compliance of the laws pertaining to the region of where the bike was originally purchased from.

If you have a 2018 onwards Performance series drive unit the manufacturer/retailer can add or remove this mode as required by the customer.

I have the Bosch Purion on my Cannondale bike. It is very easy and comfortable to use. The mode display is only shown while changing between modes and then it turns off. It would be good if there was and indication what mode you are in, rather than just showing the travel range left. There is a manual that can be downloaded from the Bosch website.

Hello, there are 4 different modes on the display. Odometer, Trip, Assist Level and finally Range. The cycle through these simply press the “-“ button for 3 seconds and it will take you through each of these modes.

Good video 👍 For the first time ever, I went out on a electric bike today, the Tern GSD Cargo (in Exeter, Devon, England / UK). It has the Bosch Purion control panel. I managed to reach 42 kmph going down Heavitree Road, back into the city centre. Would have been handy to be shown how to change the display setting from kph to mph.

Awesome. To change units of measurement simply hold down the "-" button and tap the Power button once. This will switch between MPH & KPH.

Will-Great informative video. The new user interface looks very user friendly. SO this can be swapped out from an earlier version of the Bosch system, like on a 2015 or 2016 Bosch Haibike?

Bob A indeed you can swap out from an Intuvia display to a Purion display. Depending on which firmware update your Intuvia has you will probably need an update by your local Bosch Ebike dealer who has the dealer software package in their shop.

Hello. The odometer cannot be reset. Just the trip computer feature can be rest back to 0

For walk mode, other then pushing the walk button is there anything else that needs to be done or setting (like power setting) that needs to be chosen? Does it turn off automatically? It does not seem to be assisting.

Hello. You need to be in 1 of the levels of assist, press the walk button, then the + button and the bike should move. Once the + button is released the walk assist will stop.

The motors cannot be upgraded on the bikes.

It is 2017 and have they allowed walk assist on the Nu trail

Brian Anderson the walk assist is activated on the 2017 models only. This feature is not backwards compatible with earlier years.

Hello Jean, the Bosch displays are designed specifically for their systems only at 36 volts

Do you mean that your battery within the unit is dead? If yes, this is not normal as a Purion battery should last you years before replacement is required

To turn the lights on/off press the “+” for 3 seconds. If the bike had lights added and the above doesn’t work then you will need your local Bosch dealer activate this feature via the Bosch dealer software for you.

hey bro, notice in your review that the screen back light is off, I accidentally turn mine on and cannot turn it off. can you please help me. thank you.

Hello Richard. Sorry for the delay in my response. In the video it looks as if the back-light is off but in actual fact the back-light is on. Perhaps jsut the angle of the camera. So no worries the display back-light is always on. If you have lights on or want to add them all you would need to do to turn them on/off would be to keep the "+" button pushed until they illuminated or turned off. Hi, I have the Bosch display, but Mine has a separate Anthracite control, where you can switch from Tour to turbo etc by pressing the plus or minus button, has been working fine for a year or so, however the last time I went out, I pressed the plus to move it up from touring to eventually Turbo, however when I went to press minus to take it back out of turbo, nothing happened, it is now stuck on Turbo, I have removed the battery, tried resetting on the unit, everything can amend from time to everything else, but cannot seem to move it from out of turbo, is this a fault with the separate control, or can it be reset via the main display unit, many thanks.

Hello Debra, There are a few things that can correct the issue: 1- Remove the display, wait 30 seconds then put it back in the holder. 2- Complete a soft "Reset". To do so make sure the battery is on the bike. Locate the small round button that is located beside the 5 LED lights on the battery. This will vary depending on the bike model and battery you have (Powerpack or Powertube). Once located make sure the display is "On" and press that button in for 20 seconds. Once completed try the system and see if this corrects the problem. If it does not, try it a 2nd time. 3- If the above 2 modes do not work you will need to bring it to your local dealer to have a diagnostics completed which will determine if the problem is software related or if the control pad requires replacement. hope this helps, William

This icon is a service reminder that your dealer would have put in to remind you that a service / inspection is due on your bike. Thus reminder can be based on time or by mileage.

hi sorry. my dad is finding it a little hard to pedal his new ebike (due to his age) the one we had befor basically had 3 speeds and would take him to either slow 7mph med 12 or fast 15, as long as the pedals turned. v little effort required. i was hopeing i could turn off the torque sensor via this display which he has, so the bike would assist more like the previous, otherwise we gt to send it back

I read somewhere this unit is powered by 2 disposable button cells and not by the bike's battery? So you must replace those buttoncells every time they get empty ?

These are not rechargeable and simply just trigger the system to turn on. Hence why they last so long. Simply replace with 2 x lithium CR 2016 cells

Hello David, the replaceable internal batteries within the Purion display will give you typically between 2-4 years of service life. These can easily be replaced by undoing the Purion display from the handlebar by loosing the single screw from the clamp and turning the display upside down. On the bottom you will see a cover that you can open and once open there will be 2 x CR2016 button cells. Simply replace these and you’ll be good to go again. Hope this helps.

You will need the Intuvia display, display holder and Intuvia control unit to complete the install. Typically you will need to remove the non drive side crank arm and decorative motor cover. You will then need to remove the Purion cable and pass through the new Intuvia cable and plug that in. Gian Ruchel not sure what the max speed would be but just playing around with the system on our work stand the speed registered is certainly higher than what the motor would assist you at. FOr example going down a hill you would exceed the motor assist setting.

How do you change it to mph ?

Hello. This usually happens when the batteries being replaced are of lower quality. You should replaced both batteries at the same time and use a high quality brand like the Energizer Lithium CR2016 button cells. Always change both at the same time and this should cure the problem for you. If this does not fix the problem I suggest taking it in to you local Bosch Ebike Service Center for them to take a look.

any gen2/cx bosch motor the purion will work with it, it is just a case of swapping them over. it will not work with the gen 1 classic motors.

At the present time this is not activated in North America. There is talk that this will be unlocked from Bosch with a simple firmware update from your local Bosch retailer who has the dealer service software in the near future.

This display is rather poor. You can't even see which power mode you are in. And the buttons don't seem to work very well, which is important considering how much button pushing is involved. Timed and coded button pushing is a drag.. and just a way for the manufacturers to avoid butting more waterproof buttons on it. Can the vastly superior Intuvia be substituted?

@effyleven, The Purion display appeals to some and not to others. For mountain biking, it's the way to go and most prefer it that way as it's small and compact and works really well. For riders on more urban terrain who like additional information available the Intuvia would be the way to go. So ultimately it comes down to rider preference and it's pretty much a 50/50 split and very much a personal choice. Thanks for your post and ride safe. Will

Unfortunately, we are certified as a Bosch Expert shop and cannot reveal how this is done as we are committed to keeping the bikes within compliance. Sorry about that.

Buyer beware of the Purion system ! I own a 5000+$ E-bike that has this Purion display ... unfortunately I must admit. E-bikes are often used for commuting and this display doesn't even show the time of day !! Annoying as I have to look at my smartphone to tell me the time. Also when driving you can't see what mode you're in ( eco, tour, etc ... ) without pushing the button. Speaking of the buttons, the + and - buttons are very unsensitive and you have to sometimes push them twice or even three times to succesfully engage them ( also shown in this video as the guy has to push a button twice to engage it and that's when not even riding the bike ) The display doesn't show how efficient you're using the battery and when you have to shift gears for optimum milage on the battery unlike most displays , even the older Bosh display ( the big centered one ) does that. So the Purion to me is quite a dissapointment.

+davidnieuwland thanks for your comments. Not sure if your dealer informed you, but you can always upgrade to the Intuvia to get the features you like. I agree that if you like data Intuvia is the way to go, if you like to keep this small and more discrete as well as to minimize any damage (when mountain Biking for example) then the Purion may be the best choice.

Exactly, I have the Bosh Nyon on order and my dealer will take the Purion back . On a mountain bike Purion just might do the trick .
