Bosch Purion Electric Bike Display Settings

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

While visiting the Accell Group in Southern California, I was able to spend some time digging into the Bosch Purion LCD display control pad and wanted to share some of the deeper settings. In this video, I show how to change units from miles to kilometers, how to clear trip distance, how to activate lights, and how to enable walk mode. This display is a lot simpler than the Bosch Intuvia. It is not removable, not very easy to swivel (to reduce glare), and does not have an active Micro USB port for charging accessories... the port is there, but it's only designed to handle software updates unfortunately. I have found that the + and - buttons can be inconsistent to press because they angle in to the right (towards the LCD screen) vs. going straight up and down like the button pad on the Bosch Intuvia and Bosch Nyon.
Quick tips:
- The buttons on the control pad include Power (top edge), +, -, and Walk (bottom edge).
- To change units from miles to kilometers, hold the - key and tap the Power button.
- To reset trip distance, hold the - key and hold the + key for a couple of seconds.
- To activate lights (if they are wired in), hold the + button for a few seconds.
- To change menus, hold the - button (trip distance, odometer, range, assist level).
- To activate walk mode, make sure you are in one of the four levels of assist, then press the walk button once and hold the + button to make the motor go. Note that some ebikes do not have walk mode enabled (all Trek models have it disabled as of 2018).
Navigation aids:
- How to change units (miles to kilometers) at 1:57
- How to activate lights at 2:04
- How to activate walk mode at 2:26
- How to reset trip distance at 3:00
- How to change menu readouts at 4:01
To compliment this video, I have also created a post in the EBR forums with written instructions and pictures which you can visit here: electricbikereview.com/forum/...
The official Bosch website lists all of their display panel specifications at: www.bosch-ebike.com/us-en/pro... EBR was paid to perform this review #Sponsored We try to be honest, thorough, and fun! Comparison tools, shop directory, and forums at: ElectricBikeReview.com

3 years on, and just purchased a Crossfuse with that exact display unit, and at last, some instructions on how to use it, thank you. No manual which was poor imo. I cannot find the trip mode that shows the distance down to tenths of a mile, which has been annoying so hopefully now I can. I came across the range display by accident, and I can confirm that it is very accurate. When it goes down to zero, it really means it! Thanks again.

Did you know that this little display is powered by independent small batteries? Did you know that when those batteries die you'll loose all assistance regardless of your main battery level? You'll get a warning on the screen before that but with low temperatures during winter it's still risky. For that reason it's good to have a spare ones with you AND decrease the brightness of the display to minimum: • Turn the display off, then hold down the + and - buttons and press down the power button for a few seconds. • When the display turns on there will be a scrolling display of various firmware versions (or whatever). • During this time you can use the + and - buttons to change the backlight brightness.

I've seen you talk about the buttons a few times -- and this being the internet and all -- it is easy for people to misconstrue your misuse with poor quality/functionality. It is actually a smart design feature that you're not taking advantage of by being off the bike/standing over the bike. Put your hand on the left handle bar, extend your thumb out naturally (given your four fingers are wrapped around the grip) - your thumb will be horizontal with the handlebars and pointing toward the button, which means you press in a sideways/downward motion, not simply a downward motion as you are attempting in this video and other videos. Your thumb covers basically the whole button - look at the natural shape of the thumb when extended and horizontal. This is why, in your example, the button works best pressed at the top point (closest to the screen) as this is naturally the direction your thumb will be pressing while still maintaining your grip of the bike.

Hi, awesome video, learned me a lot! But i've got a question for you, 2 weeks ago, i bought my first eMTB and i've already got 200 km (120miles) on that ting. But sinds then, i've got a service light on. The manuel tells me that i have to visit a dealerschip so they can service my bike, but i know well how to service a bike so i'm not going to pay for that. But how in bloody hell can i reset that service light? It's like a little wrench on the display right from the battery indicator. Thnx for your reaction Grts

I'm happy with my Trek e-bike with the Bosch Purion display. However, I'm disappointed that the odometer does not give you 10ths of a mile, only 1 mile, 2 mile, etc. Any comments on this? Also, I noticed, after a ride the odometer is generally 1.25 - 1.5 miles short of my actual trip. This is based on riding with others the other day whose odometers all synched up with the correct miles. So I took a closer look at the back tire that had a small attachment on one of the spokes. This small attachment was not synching up exactly with the rounded section of what I believe is the odometer hardware. Your comments on this are also appreciated.

Hi Guy, my preference would be a tie between Bosch Performance Line Speed and Brose TF. They both offer ~28 mph Class 3 support and are reliable. I just haven't been as impressed with Shimano's offering, and they don't have a speed pedelec, so you'd be limited at 20 mph. So, if commuting fast is your focus, check out the Bulls Urban Evo electricbikereview.com/bulls/urban-evo/

This is only a tutorial. You should additionally state the +/- accuracy of the range estimates at least. Best to actually test the accuracy of factory claims.

I do some range estimates with each bike review but agree with ArthurDentZaphodBeep that there are many environmental factors at play. Even the tire tread and pressure makes a big difference... wind, road surface, rider weight, the drive unit (Bosch has five now). This video was meant to be fast and focused on just the display :)

No USB out, no top speed, no indicator how much help the motor is giving... Intuvia it is.

Less functionality indeed. But on the other hand the Intuvia has too much redundant information when you’re using a smart phone to record your ride while taking a lot of the space on the handlebars that you need for your phone. I use a Topeak iPhone holder attached to the middle of the handlebars.

For me, the Purion provides all the info I need. I would however prefer a separate assist level selector button(s) that was better positioned, not that the Purion's controls are to any large extent difficult to use. A good, simple controller if that's what you need, like me.
