Couldn’t agree more.

My experience of detectors has been dire, false readings, not detecting things that ARE there etc etc, with the result that whenever i drill holes i just hope for the best. I so need a good reliable detector!

For these to be accurate and work correctly, you need to place your other hand on the wall or its very unreliable

My GMS 120 detects live wire everywhere in the wall :-( And it does not find the studs. I have built the wall by myself so I know where the studs are and there is no wires in the wall.

Does Not Detect live wires at all. Thanks to this unit I managed to drill right into BX electrical wire. I though that the unit could have been defected so i returned it and got another one.... and .... Same result... I know for the fact that there is a Live wire and the unit tells me that its ok to drill....

Can it detect pvc/UPVC pipes encasing live/not live wires or pvc pipes carrying water? Generally electric wires are concealed in PVC pipes and embedded in brick and mortar walls.Can it detect objects below glazed tiles?

yeah most work just fine. Most people don't realize you have to properly calibrate them, not change hand positions, careful not to calibrate over a stud. The franklin stud finders are the most reliable and user friendly I've encountered. The Bosch one here works well too especially detecting utilities behind the wall.

I can see that these are all old comments...I don't know why your unit wouldn't work, or maybe you are just using it wrong, but the one we just got, in 2021 is AMAZING!! It detects wires, studs, gives you the exact center of the stud...great product!! I am hanging a medicine cabinet, new kitchen cabinets, and a large heavy mirror, all in drywall, where I have NO idea where the studs are located. I would have had to punch holes in the walls all over the place to find the studs if I had not had this device! It works as it should, and is absolutely GREAT!!

Does it work with concrete?

I imagine most of the comments here are from Americans because you guys all seem to be just looking for studs in drywalls. Over here in Europe, most walls are built with bricks and plaster, we then need to find pipes and cables, so we don't drill into them. Most of these comments are misleading. Is the GSM 120 useless in all tasks, or mainly for just finding studs? Thanks!

Can only agree with the other comments. This is the most useless article I have bought. I regret having taken advice and buying one of the more expensive versions. It tells me there are live wires in my doors, doesn't detect anything useful.
