I bought the Bosch 18-volt sander with a standard 4AH battery last year. The ergonomics just scream at you. Get yourself some mixed git 3M Xtract screen style sand pads you will be dumbfounded at the removal rate. I use it with a hose from my Bosch planer to their cordless 18 volt round vac and am loving it. I have Makita, Milwaukee, Dewalt, and now Bosch 18/20-volt tools, yes, a cordless tool whore. But I appreciate superior design and can afford to disregard the battery platform. Bosch nailed it with this sander. For small and medium wood working projects this thing is a joy to use. Get the 3M Xtract discs and you'll lose your mind with the combination for sanding. It’s been a revelation even to me.
I have had that Bosch sander for about a year now. I really like it. The 3M cubitron sanding disks are the best I have used.

do you use the pad savers? which brand? have you burned through any?
Thanks for pumping out the Bosch reviews. I’ve got this sander and I really love the ergonomics of it and it’s so much more comfortable to use on top of being a really capable sander. Would love to see you do more Bosch reviews. Cheers from Australia.
I have those sand nets from 80 grit to 400 and at every level they work great. I only buy those sand nets at this point, no regrets.
It’s advisable too use a pad saver whenever you use a net type pad.. that little sacrificial pad Tools uses behind the mesh pad…the hairs on the Velcro poke through the pads and you will wear your Velcro off prematurely. I’ve gone through makita bases using these abranet type pads. just a heads up too those that don’t know.

Purchased this orbital for $80 and got a free kit. More ergonomic than my dewalt, but slower. No regrets.
Woohoo! was looking for one of these! cheers for the review mate!
Thank you for the review. I am looking forward to picking one of these up.
Hey man, it’s nice to see you are going with Bosch too. Cheers.
Great sander. Also check out the new detail and 1/4 sheet finish sander. Similar design.
Bosch made some very unique and interesting tools in recent years, I'm also start to pay attention and pay some money too, just ordered this Random Orbit sander as well, thanks for always come up with cool videos. AND...if you could test the cordless belt sander between Milwaukee, Hikoki, Dewalt and AEG...ok, and Ryobi, I can loan you my Hikoki one for testing, just curious the different, and I will keep my Hikoki one no matter the result.
Excellent look at this sander. I use the 12v one and it’s my favorite sander I have ever used. Now I’ll need to get the 18v to pair with it.

Pretty sure Diablo is Bosch too. The Bosch mesh sandpaper come with an thin interface pad too. Apart from the colour it looks the same. I use 3m cubitron. I have a hikoki sander but this looks interesting in terms of dust extraction for indoor use.

Depends on what country you are in. Bosch owns SIA and that is who make the better sandpaper sold as “Diablo” in America. If you buy Bosch branded sandpaper here, it might be crapola. If you buy it branded Bosch elsewhere, it might be industrial….or crapola. 😂. They’re repositioning Diablo from a budget line to a professional line and contractor grade Freud here in the states. Moving to selling junk consumables as Bosch. Meanwhile you can buy Freud Freud (not Diablo) branded as Bosch in the Europe and UK. You can also buy the Diablo contractor grade and garbage branded as Bosch there. 😂

* I’ll add, they certainly didn’t sell SIA as Diablo sandpaper in the past. This was a recent development.

The ceramic sandingdiscs from Mirka abranet are the best. Nice video again.
Do yourself a favor and try some of the 3M cubitron stuff. It's really good
Whoa, two videos in two days? We must be #blessed
Great review, would have been nice to know which one is better for vibration, Makitas are very good at this.
I have two of the Makita's and have used sanders for decades that are shaped just like the Bosch. I grab the Makita side on. Switch between side on and top. Makita should be watching this! Mine are as strong as yours to. I can't stall my Makita and I'm 114kg little guy. Mark

Agreed and makita will do a better job of not putting the dust port on the side, seriously gets in the way, plus makita will be more powerful and less vibration!
seen that deal at bunnings, im on makita but dont like the feel of the makita sander but was thinking of buying it, i also seen in aus bosch are giving you a free battery for every skin so im thinking of waiting it out hoping new zealand will do it
I just bought quite a few Bosch 18v brushless tools. I am very impressed so far. I used to only buy makita because of my father. I am about to buy the Bosch sander, grinder, and the circular saw. I’m thinking to go corded with saw and grinder however. Looking back to my days as a professional carpenter and battery saws were just a joke. I’m only using them for personal projects so I don’t need the best, fastest drill and all that. I just want quality tools that hold up. My last boss only used Bosch sanders. He was in the finishing business 20+ years. As you can imagine he did ALOT of sanding.
3m cubitron is the best sandnet. Followed by mirka abranet.
I've been running one of these for about 10 months now after seeing it perform in the Project Farm review. 100x better than the AEG sander I had before. Ergonomics is the key factor (as noted you noted), but dust collection and general control are also great on this. Which Bunnings is selling the kits or was that a once off random special?
Hot tip the 18v Makita 150mm polisher works very well as a sander too (DPO600)
👍👍👍Thank you
hmm wonder how those compare to the 3m cubitron discs. as those are the ones that the professional car bodywork industry uses. seems a bit expensive though because considering if it gets damaged then that becomes too costly to replace an individual single disk. so that seems a bit risky for general purpose random stuff or lower quality. wheras if it was in a controlled environment, for example making surfboards... well ok then. because thats an environment or situation where you are less likely to randomly incur damage onto the disc
Hey mate how you been? Probably you know those "silicone" covers for Makita 18v batteries which have been around for quite a bit, I got a couple from China years ago. They do the job, protecting the batteries from scratches and small punches....have you you ever seen those available for 40vmax? Cheers
Any chance on a review of the makita 18v blower vac
Can I use this to polish my car? Maybe with a detail pad
I bought the bosch cordless sander. I'm impressed with the dust collection. I'm waiting for the cordless 150mm sander. Metabo make one so I may buy the metabo. Both the makita and bosch are very powerful.

They’ve made a corded 150mm sander that was very well rated that other brands would rebadge for like twenty something years. They’re also rebadging the 150mm Mirka now. I’d pray they’d put some of that dna in their cordless lineup.

I would love Makita to come out with a similar designed sander. I've just ordered in that Makita sander and it seems bulky, but it's what I need for now.

I sent the Bosch Sander back, really love the low profile but the dust port sticking out is horrible, gets in the way on the side more so with extractor hose. Bought a makita!

@@mikemhuk it's tall but I absolutely love it. Make sure to always have a full battery, for that tool the battery level is almost equal to power level. Swap out the battery at half or 1/4 and you'll hear and feel the difference. It's better that than having the tool burn out the batteries like other companies
@mikemhuk

@@EliotTruelove thanks for the tip
I wish there were 150 and 77mm backing pads for this one. Maybe I could CAD one up and 3d print one.
Can you please review the new DHR183Z
I grabbed it last year because it was so cheap with battery and charger (I had already gotten rid of my Bosch stuff) and I found an instance where I could use a cordless sander. I’m spoiled with Festool (and depending on who you ask Mirka is even better.) Honestly, was impressed at first but it ain’t no Festool. The dust extraction is not all that on the Bosch. It all clogs up in the centre. If you need cordless it will get the job done but I didn’t really need it in the end.
The Metabo is better, better balanced and lower min rpm allowing some polishing. Wrt to sanding discs I think Project Farm did an analysis: 3M Cubitron.
Are you getting the 1 handed Makita recip?
Друг, подскажи, какая всё-таки лучше? Bosch или Makita?

Tools & Stuff Your right it's a brilliant sander, best I've ever had. ? When using my GEX 18V-125 sander attached to the vacuum, does or can the suction caused by the vacuum take air away from the air cooling system please.
The Bosch absolutely doesn't fit my hands. With big hands your palm sits way too much over the battery and forces the sander to do a wheely. When I put my palm in the right place, I don't know where to put my fingers - which results in perfectly trimmed fingernails. 💅
You’re holding the makita wrong!!!! That’s why it doesn’t feel good!! 😂

@@veitjacob9764 The problem is we adopted US management practices here in Germany. So there isn't that much attention to detail and quality anymore than we had in the past when companies where run by engineers. The Japanese take more proud of their products which we sometimes have to learn again. PS. Hilti headquarters in Liechtenstein are 180 km away from here Festool, Metabo and Fein 40km as well as Mercedes-Benz and Porsche. And I forgot Fischer Artur Fischer is a swabian hero here.
