    I worked at the passport office and in her case what we usually do is if the Ghanaian parent is not alive she must come with one living relative who bears same family name like uncle or aunty and speaks the language. They usually don't deny passport because you cannot speak Ghanaian language because they know Ghanaians give birth outside home. One mistake Ghanaians born outside Ghana do and leads to blacklisting is they think when they say they were not born in Ghana then they'll deny them the passport so they go and do Ghanaian birth certificate claiming they were born in Ghana. One thing people don't know is, it may be easy for you to acquire Ghana Card, Birth Certificate or Health Insurance if you're not a Ghanaian but at the passport office they'll cease all those documents from you and lock you. There're 4 different vetting security officers at the passport office, 1. Birth and Death Officer, Police Officer, Military Intelligence Officer, Immigration Officer and BNI Officer and all of these people will vet you individually, one officer can approve and endorse his/her part and one can say he/she is not satisfied that you're a Ghanaian so you have to prove or provide more documents.

    Does it mean that she doesn't have birth certificate? Cos on her birth certificate her father's name will be there. My daughter from South Africa got her Ghanaian passport without me cos my Ghanaian name was on her birth certificate and same name with my Dad. She took her grandma Ghana card with her birth certificate and my school certificate showing my name on and got it.

    @@zigibeat3689 Definitely she'll get it considering all the supporting documents u mentioned she held. The only thing that should've been a problem is she cannot send her grandmas ID without her grandma present but some vetting officers will still consider.

    This explains and proves what i have always said that Nigeria isnt a pure country and about Nigerians....women in Nigeria are nothing. WOMEN are just a commodity or a toy to Nigerian Men. Everywhere around the world, except the Arabs and Nigerians, women are so Powerful especially when it comes whos the real citizen of a country

    Interesting story. This is the reason why I always entreat Ghanaians bashing Nigerians and vice versa to stop that nonsense because you tend to alienate our own people in relationships with the other people. What's the difference between Ghana and Nigeria?. We are blacks, West Africans , enslaved and colonised by the Europeans and still commanded by them. Instead of coming together to fight our oppressors we are fighting ourselves. Have we forgotten that the Gas in Accra migrated from Ilorin to Ghana? And so who is a stranger in West Africa?

    Lilly, 4 key points from the conversation: 1. The children priceless appreciation of their Ghanaian father. 2.The incredible reception they received from Ghanaian family n Ghanains. 3. The mothers irreplaceable love for her Ghanain husband that made her not to remarry after the Lost of the invaluable man in her life. 4. The mothers commitment to adhere to her late husband's wish to inculcate the children back to their Ghanain roots, culture n traditions was monumental.

    You friend should do a show on Dipo. Being from a royal family, it will be easy to sit with an elder(s), talk to them so she can make some notes and also get the male and female perspectives. Then invite them for filming. It’s part of Ghanaian culture that is barely alive these days. I don’t think she’ll have any difficulty getting the beads made for. The elders, (elder women), will be more than happy to oblige.

  • @zizi-yo

    @zizi-yo

    6 ай бұрын

    You mean if she had used her mother’s state?? If so, she should have stated it that she probably went to the immigration office with her dad’s details. Rather than making it look like they didn’t want to give her because she’s mixed. And that is not done anywhere. Getting citizenship for my son wasn’t a hassle for me, all I had to bring was an identification letter to show that I’m Nigerian and my passport data page. The immigration department is a tough place anywhere in the world, you must get your facts right before visiting them.

    I was personally told that my name isn’t Nigerian.. they could have given me a Nigerian passport, only if I was willing to use my igbo name and probably take on my mother’s maiden name. I didn’t want that. I don’t know about other people’s experience. This was mine. 😊

  • @zizi-yo

    @zizi-yo

    6 ай бұрын

    Well I’m sorry, the immigration system doesn’t work like that. You must have a Nigerian name to your name to have a passport. It is rule anywhere in the world. I don’t know where you had this done but My sons last name is his fathers’ and I don’t bear the same last name as he does but his middle name is Nigerian and they didnt care about that. You are eligible for a Nigerian passport as long as you have Nigerian roots.. the same applies to Ghana… Wether a direct ancestor or an indirect ancestor. This I know for sure.

I am 52 yrs ,I met one of my paternal grandfather's in his old age married to a Yuruba woman till they died in late 70s. The current President Nana Addo was first married to a late Yuroba wife, Even the Ex Late UN secretary General Kofi Annan was married to a late Nigerian wife.
