Born Free's Twiga Team in action

Meet our incredible Twiga Team! This fantastic ranger team works in Meru National Park, Kenya, to keep giraffes and elephants safe.
They monitor the populations living there, conduct de-snaring patrols to remove snares, and monitor for illegal activity. So far, they've been removing around 100 snares a month!
The Twiga Team were all recruited from the local community, and they're passionate about protecting wildlife. Learn more about this team and their work 👇

Huge thanks to the Meru Twiga Team for protecting the wildlife from lethal snares and also engaging with the local communities that live in and around Meru National Park. By working together they can improve the lives of the wildlife and the people that live in this beautiful National park. Meru is the spiritual home of Elsa the Lioness and the Born Free story. The Born Free Foundation and the Twiga Team are passionate about protecting the wildlife that call it home and this is a great way of creating job opportunities to involve the local communities. Well done.
