Hi Danny, looks like we both have the same last name and I was born in Manhattan, New York, now living in CA near San Gabriel. My grandmother used to use this clear oil on us when we got cut or scratched up. She used a bird feather to dip into the bottle and slather it all over us. Smelled like menthol. From what I gather it was called White Tree Oil only in Chinese.

Oh I grew up using that… my grandfather always made medicinal oil in round glass wine bottles. I still use “Wong To Yick” all the time too! That interesting your Taishanese, my fam is from Kaiping/Hoiping…. Very close…and also in Sze Yup region!

I just stopped by my local Chinese Market. They do have it in stock. But, I couldn't see which version it was. It was only $7.99. The USA version on the right is manufactured by Haw Par Healthcare Ltd. The Malaysian verision is probably made by a different manufacturer. Kwan Loong Oil is banned in Canda.

Hey Danny, this is the guy that recommended sports betting, LOL. had a fun idea... how about someone who hates sports, bet on sports. I would send you a play, min is typically $5, you record making the bet... you don't necessarily need to watch the game... but to see your reaction to the result. $5 bet that lasts 2-3 hours, vs 1 second on slots.

Speaking of Chinese chicken, I looooove it of course. And the roasted duck! But what I hate is how they chop it up cuz it means tiny bone bits and very sharp bone edges u gotta deal with and be very careful eating! I hate that part of it. And Steve can eat all the chicken heads for me lol. I personally wish they wouldn't include it in the dish but they have to.

: ) OMG ! THANKS MUCH for sharing! Reminded me of Tiger Balm, and the Chicken story .... too many memories of slaughtering chickens in the store in Chinatown before Health Board shut them all down : ( You are right, no waste as all parts were used, even sold feathers off in the old days. ALL the BEST and Cheers ! ! : )

Interesting stories! I think it's safe to say that although your roots originate in rural China, you are in every way an American schooled in American ways. And the chickens in America are engineered and raised for commercial meat while that poor skinny chicken back in rural China runs around trying to find bugs, grass, and probably eat stones as well. I like your utility knife.
