If you could make a navigation video on the 47.2, it would be even better for the sweet dreamer that I am! :) Finally, the story of Jean Francois DELVOYE, creator of the shipyard and current architect, is just incredible and fascinating, you could perhaps make it a subject. Hiya, watching this again, the wood finish is very reminiscent of American White Oak, one of the nicer good value timbers. The last Pub I was a Barman at have a very nice White Oak Bar top about 3 inches thick,,and the grain was identical. 🤔👍 Best Wishes. Bob. ⛵️✨️✨️✨️ ❤️ eta, looking at some adverts for Boreal on Yachtworld, the light timber finish does look to be Ash. 👍 Also, looking at the galley, I think I'd stick with a Galley Gas Stove (gas really is brilliant to Cook with ), but add a single plate induction hob (can be really good value and easy to store away ) , just to bring things up to cooking temperature, and just switch to Gas for finishing off, which can save a huge amount of Gas, also for thoroughly cooking Stews, Curries, etc, prior to transferring to a Crockpot. the induction hob would also work for making nice things like Navaho Tribe Fry Bread and such, just have to make sure cookware is induction Hob plus Gas Compatible, not that you'd need much of it to fill the gaps. 🤔

Whilst I’ve been pretty clear about my general dislike of Aluminium Boats. For heading to really Cold latitudes, I think this one has impressed me the most that I’ve seen yet. Excellent Engineering and access, Sufficiently Solid Aluminium Plate Construction, and instant love for those Deck Hatches, and for those really cold latitudes, what’s not to like about the Pilot House. I think I spotted in the text that a Single Rudder than a Twin Rudder is an option as well. With in Mast Furling, the non adjustable Backstays are not a problem either, as the top of the Mast must remain within an inch of alignment with the Base.Nice Cockpit and a nice secure galley as well. I think changing it to two dry heads with separate sit down showers should be feasible too, just by losing a little storage. For a 43 foot boat, this one I could live on, and be able to live with pretty comfortably tbh. Nice to see decent non slip on the deck, along with a nice lack of wood on deck too. Lifting Keel ? Not a huge Fan, but could be worth trying for that 1.2 mtr Draft. A lot of things to like and a very nice Boat Tour again. That 40 foot Catamaran you toured was a bit of a nice surprise as well , for those who unlike me, Catamarans don’t Hate. 🤣 Best Wishes. Bob.❤

@@SVTONICBoatWives It is extremely hard to disagree tbh. this is an Aluminium Boat I an honestly say I would not be Concerned about living with one. Frankly, all the rest I would be, due to the extreme skill that is needed for working with it - it takes real skill handling the very high temperatures need to get through the oxide surface layer and transition to the much lower melting point of the aluminium metal that is under the oxide. I'm happy that there is enough plate thickness with this boat for a fairly competent welder to cope with that transition. tbh, that's why I would generally stick with Steel for an expedition yacht, which is why I became a qualified Welder, to know I could cope with a Steel boat if I fancied going to extremely cold places (nope, never happened, and now I have extremely low tolerance to cold, after almost dying in a Snowdrift - fun fact, Dying in a Snowdrift out of the Blizzard wind, is probably one of the nicest imaginable ways of Dying) Bob. 🤣👍⛵️✨️✨️✨️❤️

Phew looks like the link posted correctly lol.personally note only on two points does the 44.2 Fail for me, 1. No way Jose am I heading to any extremely Cold places, quite the opposite in fact, and 2. The Boat is way outside what I am prepared to pay that would leave in a position that may cause me to have an unsatisfactory budget for long term maintenance etc, to keep the boat in the tip top Bristol Fashion, that all boats demand. I can get everything customised to my needs pretty much all from Standard Construction options, with very few as high cost options still, from Island Packet, at significantly lower cost. So much as I love the 44.2 Boreal, and the approach of its Builders, and as the only Aluminium Sailboat I would ever consider Buying, The IP 439 can provide me with everything that I need. Still, it is Really nice to be able to recommend a really high quality Aluminium Sailboat to others, with much deeper pockets than my own- which do appear to be on the Brink of being no longer as empty as I have had to put up with for way too long, and there is light at the end of the tunnel at last for the pre IP tide me over boat to get me back afloat again.Very Best Wishes, and keep up the great work and boat tours. All Boreal's are single rudder, even though the new ones have twin wheels. It's something that Boreal designer Jean Francois Delvoye feels strongly about. Especially when heeled over while sailing in icy waters, the windward rudder is particularly vulnerable to damage from collisions with brash ice or bergy bits. We have a Boreal 52, and after sailing in ice in Labrador we agree with this decision. All of these French centerboarders are designed to dry out on the sand with the main board up. This means that their rudders are atypically short for boats their length. This gets solved in a variety of ways. Garcia uses twin rudders, keeping the leeward rudder more vertical although the windward rudder is skimming along shallowly below the surface. Ovni uses a foldable rudder, extended with hydraulic rams. And Boreal uses a single rudder, assisted with its angled twin daggerboards on either side of the rudder. On the wind, we drop the leeward board, which greatly assists the helm, whether by wheel or autopilot. It's very effective. Another advantage of single rudders is that they are nicely protected by the skeg/centerboard. And finally, the prop wash when motoring runs across the rudder which really helps maneuvering in tight quarters.

What is it about the "French" Boats that they need such a large Dining Table in the salon? I would much rather have a couple of recliners or something.... A bit deep overhang for the hard Bimini would be great. A back rest for the helm seat...Love the Dog House - but make the seating more like a recliner than an upright seating position.
