Border Television Logo History

Border Television was launched on 1st September 1961 and is a Channel 3 service that broadcasted in Cumbria, parts of Northumberland in England, the Scottish Borders, Dumfries and Galloway in Scotland, and served the Isle of Man from 1965 to 2009. The legal name of the company changed to ITV Border Ltd. on 29th December 2006. Border Television lost its on-air identity on 27th October 2002.

The ident logo was quite clever with the 'chopsticks' representing the Solway Firth which split the region, a sort of TV screen/eye hybrid put together to make a stylised capital B but they never made an animated ident or a catchy ident jingle.

They called the wee symbol the chopsticks
Border was/is the second smallest ITV region, only Channel is smaller. In 1991, Border was unopposed in retaining its franchise, bidding a modest £52,000 a year (£1,000 a week).

This Logo was Launched on Sept 1 So that's means Start of Ber Months, Anniversary was begun
However, Granada brought back the Chopsticks On A Bowl for Border’s endcaps in 2001.

They merged with ITV plc.

@Trace Stephens: Granada Television merged with Carlton Communications, franchises from Manchester and London prospectively creating ITV plc, they bought the other regions [ Granada taking: LWT, Anglia, Meridian, Tyne Tees, Yorkshire and Border and eventually Ulster or UTV and Channel Television in 2012 ] and Carlton taking: Westcountry, HTV, and Central ] and those regions now are "dormant companies" under the brand, they all lost their "on air" identities including their own around 2004 and have since just called themselves ITV although they pale in comparison to what they once were as separate regional franchises. The last great drama which I thought ITV excelled at was Wild At Heart which was axed in 2012, it all went downhill from that point official as a channel imo.

It would depend what transmitter their aerial was pointing towards if it pointed to Calbeck it would be Border TV if it pointed to Winter Hill it would be Granada
