Get unprecedented access to China's drug cops at a key checkpoint near the Myanmar/China border where they're in full flight. Pulling over cars and buses targeting suspicious characters and unlikely drug mules alike.
On one tour bus that's just crossed in from what we used to call Burma, the team clambers aboard checking bags, compartments and asking rapid-fire questions. Soon a woman with a young child emerges with the officers. She's carrying a plastic shopping bag containing a handful of condoms filled with Ice -- the super-charged methamphetamine that's infiltrating China's party scene and that's being shipped out to more lucrative international destinations like Australia.

Been in china for a few years, drugs is no joke. My friend has just been released from jail after 1 year for the equivalent of 5 joints. Not allowed any family or friends visiting, It wasn't easy for him, others involved are still doing time, one facing 7-10 because of two bags, one for him one for his friend (distribution). If you come here....drop that lifestyle, and start drinking tea.

I have been to the border when visiting Yunnan. The patrol was very serious and experienced. They could spot the suspicions by only looking at you and talking to you in 2 mins. China is one of the few countries that are extremely tough on drugs and punish with death penalty. This is because China once suffered from the massive drug use in history and learned hard from lessons

My cousin-in-law once bought an ID from someone. after he got a hotel room with that ID. Two police officers showed up asking him to do a piss test. He was confused and asked why. It turned out to be that the original owner of the ID had a drug conviction in the past. So long story short, if you are ever caught doing drugs in China, your ID will be flagged forever Everytime you check in at a hotel, or an internet cafe(which is very common seen in China) police might show up asking you to do a piss test.

Surprised. Didn’t know Chinese police had dogs and x-ray machines on Point , at inspection locations. Good job. Kudos to the Chinese police patrols.

In China, if you are caught with drugs, you could be forced to attend drug rehab in a facility run by the government. Execution is the penalty for some drug crimes.
