whatever you do, give commands exactly the same, and restrict your body language because a border collie hears everything you say, but they're also watching your body language, always. like, say you give a practiced command, but in that instance you happen to have one hand in your pocket...this confuses the border collie because they're always examining the totality of the command, the verbal and non verbal. you've got to train yourself to deliver commands using the same and consistent verbal and non verbal communication for every single trial

I have a male smooth coat border collie. he refuses food and water while working. I have been somewhat successful getting him to drink water when he's thirsty (while he's working). basically, he's a workaholic and food and water doesn't interest him, he'd rather stay on task
