Since I live in Oklahoma, I know all about Jeansie Jones' story since she lives in OKC (the babysitter of the daughter). I remember a story about her on my local news during the time of this movie's release. She was so loved during the movie that people started a crowdfunding campaign and they raised $100,000 dollars for her. Sacha Baron Cohen heard about her troubles and called her to donate another $100,000 dollars. She used it to help get her community back in shape. This was around the time we got hit by a big ice storm and other things. She used it for community members, a church and more. Finna just mean "I'm going to" or "I'm fixing to" "I'm about to"

Sacha spent 5 days with Jerry and Jim out in that forest hut. They are not actors and were not in on the joke at all, Sacha stayed in character for their entire time together. In fact, he stayed in character for most of the recording, which took nearly a year. The only time he publically broke character was to go back to the synagogue right after filming to let Judith know it was all a joke and explained the film to her. This was brought up later in a lawsuit against the film crew by Judith's family, who wanted to sue them for defamation after Judith passed away.

Debutante balls used to be super common in the South. Less so these days. "A debutante ball, sometimes called a coming-out party, is a formal ball that includes presenting debutantes (aka rich kids) as adults entering society." So yeah, creepy.
@target844
Жыл бұрын
The debutant ball was set up by the production team. They claimed that they were filming a coming-of-age story and had asked locals to participate in the shoot as extras. The extras were paid $100 per person to dress up and attend the ball So it is a setup that looks like a real debutant ball and the reaction and interaction we see with the people is in all likelihood not scripted but genuine reactions. The majority of the interaction with real people had to be set up and the crew said they were filming something else. There is simply no way to get the cameras in there and film it like this. That way they also got releases of people and could show their faces. The scene with Mike Pence a CPAC, when Borat sang, street shots, etc could be done with though telling the people they made a movie because that is a situation where it is not uncommon for there to be a camera. That is also why they blur some faces. I think the idea is the situation can be set up and it is the real reaction of the people there to outrageous statements and situations that they what to capture.
Maria Bakalova was nominated for an Oscar for this, she is stupendous.
29:59 How far they went was that this was in the news before the movie was even released. It was insane.

The part where tuta went into the hall with all the women after the baby sitter dropped her off borat was supposed to be there HOWEVER one of the women in the hall was in the first movie already when borat said "I couldn't understand what this old man was saying" so he didn't want to be found out and sent her in alone.
It was surprising this movie had such heart to it. The actress for his daughter was great. (She was also the voice of Cosmo the dog in the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special.)
He also did a series for HBO called "Who is America?" that's almost as good as some of the character parts here. It's all political stuff but he gets people to do the craziest stuff ever in that show.

Hope you two are having an great and awesome day ❤️
23:20 - there are few facts that make this specific synagogue scene heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time. It was only one time in the whole subsequent movie when Sasha Baron Cohen broke his character and talked to this lady as Sasha. His grandmother also was a Holocaust survivor. This lady - Judith Dim Evans - she was born in Germany and was only one family member to survive the Holocaust. She joined Israel resistance in 1946, and she found her husband there. She also was the youngest school principal in Israel. And she died months before the film was released.
lmaoooo, I thought the movie got the most laughs outta me but when George asks "What is finna?" I died. Love you guys keep it up

"Finna" is just slang for Fixing to, which is also, sort of, slang for about to. And, the Rudy thing was all over the news. Rudy swore he was just tucking his shirt in.

During the final half of the movie, when Tatar was interviewing the guy. How did they make it look like it looked. Was the footage altered to make it look like that? Or was it taken from a real interview, and they just added scenes? I would appreciate feedback on how this seen was done?

Ended up with them having to escape in an ambulance with sacha holding the door shut to prevent the people breaking in >
Brilliant idea introducing the daughter. Great performance.
this actress is also in Bodies Bodies Bodies. This movie was her first American movie.. She was incredible.
That fucking photo of Trudeau in blackface in there...I laughed so hard st that segment I cried 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I don’t think you guys understood the “clinic” scene after she swallowed the cupcake baby. That guy wasn’t a doctor he was a pastor. Those places are disguised as planned parenthood’s but they believe abortion should always be illegal, even in cases of rape or incest. That’s why the guys reaction was so funny when Borat told him he was her father.
Yeah, this was definitely in the news when it happened.
“finna” is part of the African American Vernacular English (AAVE) which is a English dialect used in many black American communities. It’s a variant of “fixing to” in the sense of preparing to do something. You can basically replace “I finna” with “I’m gonna”/“I’m going to”
Horribly heartwarming.
Finna is a term primarily used in the southern states and it's an abbreviation of "fixing to" the same way gonna works with going to
Finna means like I'm about to "She says I'm finna get your ball and chain back" that threw me off guard when George asked what that meant I'm from Texas 🤣
The old lady in the synagogue and the babysitter were so wholesome I have no idea how he didn’t break character dealing with them.

He actually did break character with the woman in the synagogue. He changed out of his costume and makeup, immediately went back to the synagogue, and explained the movie he was making. Because he felt so bad being anti-Semitic to these nice old ladies.
In both Borat reactions, George has been laughing all the time. That's awesome!

Its funny that you guys were dancing around the whole Covid word but that is literally what the movie is about by the end... LMAO
Simone: "They really went for it." That sums up the whole movie. Like the original, just creating one crazy situation after another.
@What_Makes_Climate_Tick
Жыл бұрын
Also, regarding "finna": Many features of African-American dialects derive from African languages, many of which have more verb tenses than English does. This shortening of "fixing to" marks a "near future" tense. Other unfamiliar tenses include "habitual", indicating by a single verb that someone does something regularly, or "in a state of", replacing "I am" followed by an adjective with a verb instead.
Maria Bakalova should have won an Oscar for this performance!
The actress wasnt in anything major before the movie, Sacha Baron Cohen wanted someone with little coverage so there was less chance of her being recognised. You guys mentioned Bruno at the start, if you ever get a hold of a DVD or Bluray of that film watch the making of stuff and listen to the director's commentary, it's extremely interesting. ps. The Rudy Giuliani thing was all over the news when it happened.

12:34 Phil Drummond was the name of the father in the fictional tv show, Diff’rent Strokes.
Guiliani was about to get rudy.
"Finna" is a contraction of "Fixing to", just like "Gonna" is "Going to", and means broadly the same thing. It's often used in threatening sentiments, for example "I'm finna punch you in the face".
The two queue-anonymous dudes are 100% real.
