I love these ideas. 'Shopping' in your own stash for starters. I would also recommend a 'mood box'. For me, this is where I store potential items for the project I am working on, and where all the little scraps that are generated as I work can be kept in case I need them again before the project is finished.

Firstly, I love your papers. Secondly, being a student of art and design, this is quite logical in preparing for a project. Thirdly, the mood or atmosphere or intuition of the piece CAN be so hard because we are all creating from a gut or gotcha sense. Your explanation is excellent. Esp the color selection. I learned something new today in the idea of "ripping down" to a smaller part of something that "fits" so that it is cohesive and doesn't compete. I had never had words for that situation-observation and the simple solution of ripping down didn't blossom because I was so fixed on making it work. So thank you for reminding me that small pieces can make an impact.

This is genius! It makes so much sense to gather things that might work first, rather than my hunt for it as I’m working. Plus it gets those things we forget about into the light of day! I never thought about all the coordinating embossing powders in my stash. Thank you for this tutorial.
