They are perfectly fine suspension and brakes as its a street car not a race car. If you experience brake fade in ANY street car driving properly, you don't know how to drive specially if its a manual.

@@tbas8741 well you can clearly see that owner have some mods installed such as bigger brakes (but i guess the pads are just bad), blitz suspension and chassis stiffness mods. so it should perform way better when tuned right for the track. tho it seems like its a basic street drift build anyways. also this car is still a heavy boat which need even bigger brakes and more suspension mods to be efficient on track

Man this video brings up so much emotion for me. In my 20's, I owned an SC300 manual and slowly pieced together coilovers, wheels and some aero upgrades before finally saving up for a turbo kit (used) for the 2JZ-GE. This took years, I don't even remember how I was able to save up for that turbo kit because I absolutely could not afford anything on that car in reality. Shortly after installing theTein coilovers and taking the car out for the first time after being away for three months an uninsured driver totaled it. Never got to finish the build. I loved that car, maybe I'll get one again in the future.

besides the brakes seems like the real biggest limiting factor was the R154 gearbox. I blew up my R154 in my soarer and can say having upgraded to a Grannas T56 has transformed everything and made it feel like I can trust the car more in almost all areas. With the close ratio set up the car even feels much faster. Also recommend if not already done doing a baffled oil sump for something like this. Number 1 killer of 1jz's is oil starvation it seems in my experience

That is exactly the type of car i would so much LOVE to see build into a Track tool. no one does it, its super unusual, its got loads of power potential being a JZ car, its rwd, its got a good suspension design but its quite heavy. not heavier then something like an e92 tho. Would prefer a jzx100 mark 2 but just in general a jz car as a track tool. NOT a drift car

had a 1jz manual soarer id say this is about 300 at the wheels, mine made 300 and definitely gained speed a bit faster! but was on stock twins (non vvti model), full spool by 2700 so pulled from much lower too but around 300 wheel sounds right, probably would make 400+ on high boost i reckon, few PSI on that tursbkie would be a lot. I have such a soft spot for these, probably the best cruiser/daily/track car/drift car ive had, often used to do a 900km round trip in it and was the most comfortable car for long drives (with stock seats), thats still spicy and way less boaty than most people think

@@Coffee_Boss Thanks for chiming in too, definitely a bit odd given its a modern garret turbo, i think in this case boost was too low for the turbo size, seemed like wastegate pressure, making 300hp from 2700rpm is surely faster than 300hp at 5k rpm and up. Hoping he comes back one day on high boost and some better coil overs/brtakes, everything is there for at least 400hp + safely its surely a ripper!

The Supra was the sports car, the Soarer was the luxury tourer. The brakes are smaller and often get replaced with Mercedes S-Class brakes as an upgrade. They also have very soft, boaty/floaty suspension from factory and are quite difficult to turn.

The only thing I don't like is when people come to the Nurburgring without doing a proper suspension setup for the track. Then you can't really send the car because it's rubbing.

Be interesting to see when he tunes it a bit better. 20mm more ride height, stiffer shock valving, a decent set of brakes. I think the turbine housing is a bit on the big side (I reckon it must be close to 1.00, where 0.85 would be much better), and it needs more aggressive boost ramp from 4500rpm. Oh, and a new clutch and a rebuilt trans will be on the menu as well. Did you buy parts from GOLEBYS' or did you import the whole car from Australia?
