Part 1: • Boosie on Saying VladT...
--------
Rapper Boosie is at odds with fellow rapper Rod Wave for alleged copyright infringement. Boosie claims that Wave improperly sampled one of his songs and took lyrics from other rappers. Although Wave reached out in an attempt to negotiate and settle the matter, Boosie demanded $200k and 25% of the profits for his work. Despite a verbal agreement, Wave's team has apparently stalled on the issue and refused to pay. Boosie owns only a partial percentage of the disputed song but insists on his rights as an artist being respected and equivalent compensation being made. He further asserts that the funds accrued from the song are for his children's future. Boosie argues that similar issues do not arise with established artists like 50 Cent, highlighting perceived unfair treatment in the industry.

    Boosie owns his publishing, now all he has to do is have his BMI or ASCAP go after his share. Rod Wave and his label will wish they gave you the $200k because now they will collect on the song forever. Sit back and play the long game. Boosie will make more than what he initially asked for. That's the power of owning your publishing.

    yall dont know what yall talking about. boosie SHOULD have asked for that because publishing alone is worth more than ownership/masters rights to a song. if this goes to court, rob will pay more. There’s a reason why its easier to get masters than it is publishing. By boosie having publishing, he ALWAYS has to be notified before a song that he wrote, composed, or created with his own instruments is released by another artist to the public and he has to approve it. if it is released without notifying the original publisher (boozie and others), they automatically can take majority or all of the money made. this has happened to mac miller, robin thicke amd pharrel for blurred lines, and ed sheeran. LMAOO ROB SHOULD HAVE PAID

  • @joshuat5140

    @joshuat5140

    6 ай бұрын

    @aarondeal7110 I know it's happened to other artist. Robin Thicke was kinda bs imo. But that song was way more popular and successful vs Rods. I'm just saying boosie is asking for 200k yet he doesn't even own majority of the song. He gets 20 percent. So why would Rod pay him 200k and still have to pay the label if they end up wanting paid too? So he's better off contacting trill and negotiating with them. And what they agree on boosie gets 20 percent of that. I understand rod should pay for it. But he's definitely better to negotiate with trill not a 20 percent holder.

    What this speaks to is the lack of originality in many artists and content creators. Even with all these KZread reaction videos, people are sampling from other original programming content creators and monetizing it. This is particularly problematic when the content creator is someone who has been demonetized b/c of profanity usage or some other reason, but another KZread creator samples their work, bleeps out the profanity, and monetizes a video that the original creator gets no money off of. All of its exploitative and a lot of artists have no clue how much money they loose from this or what is essentially the high opportunity costs of their operation. It's nice to see artists like Boosie cracking down on this.

I honestly feel like until you have a net worth of 100 grand you should be able to use a sample up to that. But also, like if boosie doesn’t own the rights to the song he’s kind of in a place where asking for 200 gs and 25% cause in reality then the record labels could still come and have the song taken down. So that kind of seems like he might be running a scam on rod wave in a sense. Like he’s trying to sell him something he doesn’t really own. Like say you sell a car but your ex wife owns half of it and then she comes to get the car and then could go and have the car taken from the buyer or put them in a big legal mess.

    Y’all won’t tell a white person that when they come for what’s owed. So fuck outta here with that bs. Pay what you owe when you do some back door business on your own accord. it’s simple. Me personally, I would’ve just went straight I my lawyer🤷🏽‍♂️. He wouldn’t have had a chance to pay under the table with me.

    $200K + 25% that's weew... then to know Boosie only owns about 20% of his own song... lol Shows you exactly how this industry works. I argue it's way cheaper to be an ORIGINAL artist. I also argue it might just be way better to be independent and do JV's.

    Just because he asked for it doesn't mean he's going to get it. He will get paid though. If he sits back and collects his 20% he will make more than $200k over time. Rod Wave is the fool if you ask me. Stop using people's intellectual property without clearing it. Publishing companies don't want to hear all the dumb shit. Their job is to collect on the artist's behalf.
