Boondocking outside Badlands with a visit to Wall Drug in South Dakota
Where is a good place to #Boondock or #Dispersecamp by the #BadLands? Great question. We stayed on the rim and loved the view from our RV. We decided to drive in and tour #WallDrug and see what all the excitement was about. So we answered these common questions while we were in South Dakota Badlands.

I still write and send cards and letters. Your grandkids will always remember that, so sweet. Can’t wait for the special announcements!
Late to the conversation….but I am a card maker and sender….my grandkids live close and I still send them cards from home, not only on vacation. Snail mail is more personal than email and more special when homemade. Our kids have saved the cards I sent them as momentous….keep up the tradition, Sheila….I’m sure it is appreciated.
When I was a kid growing up in South Dakota we went to the Black Hills every summer to visit my Grandparents. The road through the badlands was like the road you were riding your bikes on. And you very seldom met another car. And you made sure you filled your car up with gas at the last gas station and said a little Prayer before entering the badlands because there were no cell phones so who knows how long you would wait for help (a day or two?) and it was very hot with no air conditoners in the cars. Mt. Rushmore was free and you could walk right up to Bill Hicock's grave (no fence).
My dad always sent postcards to me. Now that he’s passed, I treasure them. 🙂
Had to re-watch your South Dakota videos after my trip there last week! Also the VRBO owner of our cabin rolled up the steep gravel drive on a Hemiway! He loves his and zooms all around the property on it…
Post cards are a super idea!! Think I will copy this idea when we finally get to travel again. Life has us busy, getting caught up on vids.
I mail postcards from everywhere to nephews, sisters and all my besties….they love them! Wall Drug…meh….boondocking on the rim of badlands was amazing!
Wall Drug is an American Institution. Generations of families have made the stop. I was there with my parents in the mid 60s, we have taken our kids and next week our grandkids. How cool that the tradition lives on. Fun vid. Thanks Ken and Sherrie
On the bucket list. Beautiful views from you boondocking spot.
Doing all the things! My brother & his wife were just there on his Indian. They literally did all the things you did. They loved it too
Hey guys awesome tourist trap, you got sucked right in. Advertising 101 overkill brings them in🤣🤣🤣. Great content and thanks for talking about the boondocking I was curious. Safe travels!!!!
How cool! We pulled into the spot you were camping at on 7/5 and saw your rig parked there! I was jealous of where you were parked as it is our favorite spot to set up at along the edge of the badlands!
My wife sent post cards to our grand daughter, great nephews and nieces. We went left at the T in the Buffalo Gap dispersed camping area on June 20th and found a pretty nice spot for our 44' Momentum, but it was a rough ride back there.
I'm commenting. Wall South Dakota seems like quite a trip. Hope ya'll are doing well. Please have blessed travels.
Wall Drug does have a TON of billboards. Been to Sturgis a few times on the bike. Hit Devils Tower, and the funky town nearby of Huelett. Oh yeah, the rain/thunder storms can be intense in SD
We took our kids (now 45 & 42 yikes) when they were little to WallDrug and from your video I see it has changed a lot and added much more to it. I guess when we go that direction again we'll have to stop and check it out. Happy Trails, from Laurie and Rick
Looks pretty cool. Thx for sharing!
Never been to that area, but I love postcards. Thanks. Blessings
Useful video. I see the billboards but have never stopped. Really liked the advice on where to boondock.
We visited Wall Drug last July, but found it extremely crowded. We had our dog in the truck and left it running hooked up to our rig so couldn't appreciate or take in the whole experience. We didn't even find where to get our free doughnuts.
Hi from the EMAHIZERs! Thinking of you guys as we switch it up in Maine. It’s so cool how switch crew just randomly pops up lol. Thanks for everything guys
Thanks for sharing. We are expected to be in that area starting Sunday the 18th. Looks like wall drug has grown since our last visit. We will try not to get lost in the bad lands this time. 🤣.
We were also thinking of sending postcards to family. We’re not the only ones!
Postcards to grand kids are a must.
My wife and I were there at that time also!! As a matter of fact, we were the ones in the Montana you mentioned! It was in fact a GREAT spot. We just barely survived the 60+ mph winds also. We did have some minor damage to the slide toppers but that was all. We let the slides all the way back in until it was safe to let them back out. It was crazy there for awhile! I believe that was our most scary couple of hours we have ever had in our camper.

Wow it was super crazy! But so peaceful and beautiful - thanks for watching
It was a cool boondocking spot. If you go in the North entrance, it is much easier to find a spot.
I love wall drug!! That wall of photos is awesome
Thanks for the additional site info!!!
Wall Drug is a must see for sure. Plus we started seeing signs 300 miles away. What a great piece of history. South Dakota surprised us. We thought we would hit Rushmore and move on. Spent a week and still want to go back. Good tip for work camping at Wall Drug. We may put that on our list....summer list...too dang cold in winter.
I just watched your Quartzite AZ video! You guys are absolutely hilarious!
You guys are the best rv channel on KZread

Wow thank you!
Thanks for the information. Doing to the things.
We were there in once and never again. The amount of people there was insane. The only place we go and don’t mind the crowds is Disney World 😂😂
We were there. Great and go there at least once.
Another fun video! I remember going to Wall Drug as a kid. I won't say how long ago but it has changed a lot.
Wall is very commercialized. Like Sheila said, you should see it once😉
LOL.. Just watched video from Rick and Denise of Soaring Together of their trip to the badlands in their HDT and DRV FullHouse. They scoped out the boondocking area and caught your rig in their video. Pretty cool.
I love sending postcards.
I'm surprised you didn't find Bigfoot somewhere lurking in Wall Drug!
Great video. Great idea for where to go in the future.
This is a great way to start my day, love traveling with you 2
Loving your tours!
The place you were boondocking at is called Nomad View Dispersed Camping Area. Cheers!
Have yall been out here to Mitchell S.D.? Worlds only Corn Palace. That's where we live and are building our bus. Stay safe out there.
Wall Drug is a must stop. Was there years ago my son & nieces still talk about it. Safe travels.
We have a printer in our RV and we print pictures of places, things, people etc that we see or do along the way. I then write on the back of the photo on the left side, put their address on the right side and mail them to our grandchildren. They look forward to receiving them.

Very nice video guys thanks for sharing and I'm hoping to get back out there this summer.
Can’t beat that free water 😂😂😂
I would love to run up to Wall Drug. I think it only a 6 hour drive. I didn’t realize it was that big. Lol
Another awesome video. Wall looks like a interesting place to visit.
Love the back of your shirt
We love Wall Drug. Into SD. Leaving SD. Roast Beef sandwich a MUST!
Thank you for showing how beautiful this country is!! I bet the sunrise was gorgeous!
We were at Wall Drug two years ago. We also saw the Black Hills and the Badlands, Mt Rushmore and our grandchildren got postcards from each place we visited. Kids love to get mail.
Yes! Snail mail!!! We make home made cards with my 80 year olds mom. Enjoy the time we share!
Love sending post cards
Just doing all the things!
Love to see you using the bikes 😊. Looks. Nice there
Beautiful boon docking location.
Yes to postcards! When my Granny passed I received all the postcards I had ever sent her. It was sweet that she kept them & I could revisit my world travels. Thank you for another fun vlog!
What a fun video! You had a stunning location for boondocking in Badlands!

Thank you for the added description of that gorgeous place!
Cool vid y’all ! Beautiful scenery !
I definitely send postcards to my grandkids! As soon as my granddaughter receives hers, she puts it in the scrapbook I made for her. She's only 3, I'm hoping someday she will have fun looking at the different places, stamps, and postmarks on them 😁👍
Great videos. I want to work camp there
Yes, snail mail is great. Especially little kids!!!
Glad you got to go to Wall Drug, it has grown so much since the first time we were there!
thank you maybe I made it out there Stay Safe God Bless
Loved seeing places that we have been to - Wall Drug was a must stop for us also!
Sheila and Todd you both are friggin beautiful people so glad I got to meet you both briefly while you we're in this amazing state you showcased in previous videos. I hope you always have plenty of snacks on your adventures. We will no doubt cross paths again. Safe travels you both:)
We love Wall drug. They have added some new stuff since we were there last time. Thanks for an updated trip. I think we visited a Silo near by the Badlands. Fun times for sure.
Great video as usual. We did Walls and the Badlands back in Early June and I agree with Todd , it’s a little overwhelming but needs to be experienced. We also stayed at Buffalo Gap in the National grasslands. Loved it.
My dad was from South Dakota I was there when I was little, but after my grandparents passed we hadn't been back! I will get there again! Thank you for the tour😊 safe travels🙏😊❤
Keep it up guys. Love following & watching your channel. Great job.

Thanks so much!
Wall Drug looks cool, a place I would enjoy spending several hours at. Sheila you are very brave walking out on those thin ridges. Stay safe.
Really enjoyed the visit to Wall drug. It kind of reminded me of Branson malls. Beautiful area, probably pretty nerve racking drive to get there, I would suggest to be well rested before heading to those boondocking areas. 🖖🏻👍🏻😘🙏🏻
Beautiful area!!!
I love you guys! I told you once before that you reminded me of a relationship I used to be in... Well guess what?! After 6 years apart we have reconnected and couldn't be happier 💛 💓 💗 ☺ P.s. I showed her your channel right before so..... Not saying you're match makers but lol

We feel like the year is flying by! November will be here before we know it!
That is our favorite boondocking spot so far. We agree that going to the right is much better than the left
That building is interesting.
Sheila is so cute when she gives Todd that sideways look☺
Doin' all the things!
Love Wall Drug. Can't wait to get back there next year!

Quite the place - I can say there really isn't anything like it that I've seen so far!
As a pharmacist, Wall Drug is on my list of places to go! Definitely looked like an adventure!
Awesome video, our boys would love that T-rex at the drug store. Switch it Up!
Just a little bit of home provided by some GIs. Some feel good and humor in a bad situation would be my guess.
Looks like it'd be a pretty cool place to go shopping, the food really look good
You guys stay at great places.....please be sure to tell us so we can have the same fun! Thanks again for another informational (?) video!

Thanks for doing all the things David!
Definitely a lot busier than when we were there in May.
❤️ The postcards!!!
We just left Wall, SD yesterday and I’m a Grandma Sheila that mailed post cards to my grandsons at that post office too. 👍 😂
Wall Drug - been there, done that in about 20 min. Probably good for families with younger kids, but was underwhelming for us.
I visited the Bad Lands close to 20 years ago and had my car repaired in Wall. I can safely say the only thing that did not change in the area are the Bad Lands. I was there in the end of April on a drive and you could not appreciate the winds unless you were there. Wall looks almost modern compared to the old town feel when I was there.
#post cards I still mail them to my daughter and she still lives with us We are going there in September thanks for the info
