I loved Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell. I heard about it on a podcast about Macs back when I cared about such things. The guy recommending it did so because of its length and he figured it was a good way to get good value out of Audible. I'd like to eyeball read it, especially if I had a copy like the one you have!

Echoes Saga I would really like to read, though I'm def not a prose snob! I'm happy to read very simple prose as long as the story is good.

Simple prose can work! Sanderson is simple but he has compelling character and world to make up for it

Why am I just now realizing that Jonathan Strange and Piranesi are written by the same author?! Oof, if an author tracked me down and asked why I didn't give their book a higher rating, I wouldn't read from them again. I feel like I see that behavior more often in the indie space (though I know trad pub authors have done it too) which sadly makes me more hesitant to read indie books. I read To Sleep in a Sea of Stars and dnf'd it with about an hour left in the audiobook. The story was very repetitive and the characters are pretty cardboard

Yeah indie authors don’t have others to tell them what isn’t author behaviour and when this happens I get so uncomfortable. And his books weren’t bad! Just not incredible
