51 whole minutes of Steve rants? Can't think of a better way to spend my Friday.

The People's Friend is a Scottish institution, and still very much alive. DC Thomson are based in Dundee. It's a weekly magazine that has been running since the 19th century. We got my mum (who's 86) a subscription for Christmas two years ago. She remembers her grandmother buying it every week. There's usually one serial and around six short stories every week, plus puzzles and knitting patterns. The front page is usually a drawing of somewhere in Scotland. I'm thinking of subscribing to it myself. It's a little happy, unchanging place in a horrible world.

New viewers of Steve's channel are going to want to refrain from repeating the producer's description of "musty, dusty, and geriatric as can be". You can think it to yourself as Steve has not yet figured out the technology to zap you for unsanctioned thoughts.

Never heard of the first book or its author, but love the wild cards banter, as always. Thank you, Jeff, for letting us know about a book that you, a pathetic, lowly producer, enjoy 🙂. Did the musty, dusty old book make it to the trash?
