On today's show, we make five time-honored authors spin in their graves as their works join the hallowed (hollowed?) halls of Books of the Week.
Жүктеу.....

Thanks for another delightfully zany episode of Books of the Week, with Messerman and Lil Smoky. These two brats are the wurst! 😜

Now I want to move to Cedarburg for the wonderful mystery section of the library! Sigh... There will be a room in heaven just like that, filled with every published mystery and readers who want to talk endlessly about every nuance...😇

Excellent show, as always! Easily the highlight of my watching week. Particularly drawn to the lovely sign behind the producer. Adds some class.

Right? I mean...I had to do SOMEthing to raise all boats on this show! (Neither one of us will see another sunrise if Steve reads our comments here...)

Love the classics! Do it again soon. I have been friends with two librarians for thirty years and they look like nice women, but they are FIERCE! I would be mighty afraid to stand between them and a challenged book.

When I read Lolita a couple of years back, I vividly remember being charmed by its style, and sometimes its humour, but I couldn't find any heart in it. It rang hollow to me, however much it may have chimed on a sentence by sentence level. So yeah, I'm still trying to figure out what the craze is all about. (Having said that, I like his 'Invitation to a Beheading' and find 'Pnin' affable enough.) Loved the episode! ❤

@@cplradio I am reading Wifedom by Anna Funder now and it’s not flattering to Orwell. To be fair she states her opinion from the start so it’s not a hidden agenda.

@@cplradio I really liked his Down and Out in London and Paris? book. I think I would have liked it much more if I had had any context. We had not covered most of the historical characters before reading the story.
