If I weren’t using accounting software, Google sheets or the green columnar ledger books would be my next choice. Remember though that when using accounting software, debits and credits should be thought through differently than when considering them in your checkbook register.

Then You said in your teaching we should know our responsibilities of book keeping. Then You said we should do our recording properly. My dear I am enjoying every bit of explanations of book keeping. The boot camp i should do it require 3 hours for me to learn about it any time i have to take it. You explained it well. I feel so relaxed because i never took book keeping class in college I don't know what i will meet in that camp. You tube platform has make me relaxed to get more understanding on it. A few people had some negative things to say, “you’re rambling” etc. That’s BS. You were very helpful and gave exactly what the video title said you would. This is very helpful. The haters are “accountants” and whatnot, but my mom’s been a CPA for 35 years and I’m sure she would say this is beyond helpful for people who are trying to understand the basic idea of bookkeeping. You’re helping people. Good for you, keep it up. This video was very helpful for me. • @MightyCong

    @MightyCong

    4 жыл бұрын

    @@amaria5751 you're welcome! 😁 As far as accounting goes, I use a web program call Wave to track all my expenses. The website should be waveapp.com or something like that. If you're collecting tax then write that down and etc, it's not as hard as what most people make it seem. All you gotta do is just track every single expense you make with your business account. I would sit down once a week or once every 2 weeks to track everything

  • @JillGockel

    @JillGockel

    4 жыл бұрын

    So glad you found this helpful!!!! It really can seem overwhelming especially when you start trying to figure out the accounting side of things. But really, when you look at what the purpose of journaling & a general ledger is, it’s a system to track every penny going in/out of your business. You can accomplish that by just using excel or Google sheets tracking the things mentioned in this video. That is the simple system I use for all my businesses & that my course teaches. This should definitely not be a reason to postpone starting your business, seriously, it can be easier than you expect. If you want help with this, definitely take a look at my course where I explain how to make this simple, give you my tracking tools, & respond to any questions you post throughout the course. www.jillgockel.com/webinar

  • @JillGockel

    @JillGockel

    3 жыл бұрын

    Yes, it does apply to e-commerce businesses. (I have clients that range from online businesses, construction businesses, bakeries, coaches, authors, etc.) It helps you implement my exact strategy to knock out your bookkeeping fast & gives you the tools I use to track your expenses, income, & mileage. However, it does NOT address things like tracking inventory. So if inventory tracking is specifically what you're looking for then the course wouldn't be a good fit.

    I was approached to do book keeping from home for a small business, I’ve been in medical administration for the past 10 years so I love details and keeping organized. But number kid of freak me out. I’m not super scared because for the most part it’s my understanding that the software will do most of the work as long as I choose the right one and document everything where it needs to be. But still unsure of what software is most user friendly and reliable

    Go girl! When you step out of your comfort zone you always grow! Yes, the software you use (& your habits) will make or break how smoothly this goes. I have several tips in my course on how to make it easy & you can apply it to any software. Plus you get my automated excel sheet that helps do a lot of the work for you. I’ve found excel is the easiest & most user friendly (I do NOT recommend Quicken or QuickBooks!) but there are some other softwares like Wave that seems to have good reviews on ease & usability. I talk about Wave & some other free softwares in this KZread video that you might find helpful -> kzread.info/dash/bejne/hIiLkrtyhNq2Y5M.html

    As far as bookkeeping, no you don’t need a separate book for each customer. You can just keep track of your total income/expenses across all customers.

    Hello I want to actually start but idk how or where to go. I am recovering from a back injury I’ve got right out of high school, been bedridden for about 4-5 years and only recently started walking again. I’m very eager to get my independence again and im constantly battling this feeling of being a burden on my family even tho I shouldn’t feel this way..🙏🤕 I’m just so lost cause no one thinks I’m able to take care of myself and I’m just trying my best to prove to myself that I can..

    Are foreign currency gains/losses unavoidable? Im a US LLC so my home-currency is USD. If I have foreign-currency activity without converting to USD will I always have gains/losses? Let me explain: Say I have a GST liability account (CAD). I make a sale in Feb and collect $1000 GST. The CAD/USD exchange is 0.80 so my balance sheet will show a GST liability of $800 USD. On Apr I remit this $1000 GST to the CRA, but the CAD/USD exchange is now 0.70 so my GST liability is now $100 USD. I'd have to DR GST liability $100 & CR curreny gain $100 and pay tax on it. In this scenario, I recieved and remitted $1000 CAD to the CRA. I am being taxed on a gain I never realized. Is this simply unavoidable for transacting in foreign currency?

    Hi Ana! I do have an online course but it is not an accredited course so there is no diploma. I’m not a CPA, my course is focused on the ways to make bookkeeping easy & get it done fast. If you’re looking for a diploma, it probably wouldn’t be a good fit. But you can learn more at & grab a tax deduction cheat sheet at jillgockel.com/easytaxes

    Is using bank statements as proof of transaction enough?

  • @JillGockel

    @JillGockel

    3 жыл бұрын

    It is not. A bank statement doesn’t provide enough information related to the purchase. If you can snap a picture of the receipt before you through it away, a digital copy is sufficient (no need to hang on to the receipt in that case).

    Serena I can totally relate! But look at it this way - it’s your job to track your expenses/deductions in a simple, organized way. It’s your accountant’s job to review your records & decide if they are correct or if you need to tweak things before submitting your taxes. Does that help alleviate some of the fear?

    @Treva Peres, Bookkeeping and Accounting are two different branches of accounting. Bookkeeping focusses on the more simplified aspects of accounting, like managing the books. Just become familiar with the accounting software, have basic knowledge of debits and credits on financial statements, and keep track of all receipts and revenue/income/sales that come in. I am sure that you will do well.
