I'd send the video clip to Primes safety department, let them deal with that idiot...
You do what you have to do, in this market. You can save with the fuel, just watch your speed. Stay safe.
Congratulations on your new journey. I love your channel, and how honest you are
I am trying to get on with landstar, anyone out there thinking of buying a truck, stay away from baccarat, their trucks are junk, volvo, mack are the same, but it's their maintenance dealerships that keep it rolling, you will not get that anywhere else!
Your best bet is get your lanes and work with the same agents.
Good to see you again
You definitely need a few tips here at landstar, I'll be glad to help..

More to come!
Welcome aboard.
I live in Oklahoma, we're friendly folks here. But you're correct. The DOT are assholes. I tried "for hire" dump trucking, and they wouldn't leave be alone, they stopped me almost every time they saw me. Never got a moving violation, but they made me so nervous I found some other things to do.
You're a brave guy going O/O in this market, I wish you the best.

the market is bad but its still not terrible. this guy is a numbers dude and smart. if he can figure out tha market based on freight he will be fine. alot of times its alot better to get that load for 1200-1500 that is like 600-700 miles and drop first thing tha next day instead of taking a load for $4200 going to florida and not being able to get a load coming out n running cheap if u stay anywhere on tha coast

After the OK comments best go around. They will be pulling over every red truck coming through, ha ha
Been there done that, good luck
Also from what I’ve seen and heard you might not be able to negotiate the price but you can ask for more fuel surcharges. Plus Landstar doesn’t get 35% of your fuel surcharges so you are better off with more money on that end
Thank you man for the info, hope the future videos answer my question if I should get my truck cash and stay with knight or get it and leave
be safe an be lucky
Been waiting for this video. Sounds good as your are just getting started at LandStar. Lonestar Texas Ranger hauls for LandStar and he had explained the pay. He had mentioned he sometimes could get an increase in the Fuel Surcharge pay, but not the Linehaul. LandStar has a pretty good fuel discount program so that helps. What MPG does your truck get?
@truckingthesevenseas

7.2 MPG
I swore you could negotiate too. That sucks
Looking forward to hearing how the numbers $ go with Landstar

You gotta run your azz off at LS... cheap freight mostly on the board right now
If no negotiations then sometimes when no one takes it thats kind of a negotiation through the back door.
North Florida has loads out. Landstar has loads going out of north Florida
Buttttt suspenders are THE BEST
Turn this video over to prime safety dept
If im leasing a truck thru SFI do u think i can make decent money after truck payment??
Right, the DIRECT loads are non-negotiable. The rate listed is the full amount being paid by the shipper, usually a contracted rate. However all the other loads, the non-direct loads are negotiable. In fact, the rate posted is just a guess, something the listing agent thinks he may be able to get from the prime agent. They are posting loads from other load boards. Negotiate away!
On the f phone hear INC is getting in cab cameras not soon enough
It seems like you just jumped in the same boat that’s everyone else is in… You don’t want to haul that cheap freight, but what other choice you have when you have bills that got to be paid?

Unless you're doing platform work and definitely the overalls or coveralls.
Leave it to Prime.
Soak it up while you can. Very soon you will realize most of the load board is double brokering freight.

Your truck came from knight so you don’t have to have hassmant before you go over there ?
@truckingthesevenseas

I bought out the truck early from Knight through their lease program and I now own the truck outright and can take it where I please. If I were still leasing from knight i would have to keep working for knight.
IMO I think especially right now you can’t go wrong with Landstar. I’ve been doing some heavy research for the past year and still haven’t pulled the trigger yet but if and when I do I’ll go with Landstar. A lot of people can’t get over that 35% but you have to figure in what benefits come with that plus when I was in Louisville at MATS I looked at a few load boards and Landstar had more loads in the south east than Truckstop had in the whole country.
These Prime drivers are something else.
How much are your fixed costs such as truck payment etc?

I'll show in the next episode when i breakdown a spreadsheet. My CPM will be around .80 to $1 per mile
Bro 1.43 a mile is worse than swift. Swift pays 1.60 something a mile plus they have a load board. I gave up otr and took my truck to local drayage which is great atm. Just had to input cause holy ahit that is worse than poverty id just try to take your truck local like the rest of us
Welcome to the Network Brother... Been Riding with LandStar for over 8 years. The information on the "Capacity Review" is not reliable. Your analytical approach may serve you well, but don't get bogged down in details. Booking ahead is a product of knowing the customers. Probably no different than Knight Swift. Keep up the "Showmanship" on your channel... It's very informative.. Like your style. Keep up the Good Work - Keep R Rollin!
Where did you lease your truck and are you allowed to pay off early? Do you have a walk away lease contract?

If you have time watch some of the Blue Ribbon podcasts. They put some good info out especially for the newer guys. One of the things they teach which I like is set a minimum daily rate. They ignore the rpm and shoot for $1400 a day and around $2000 for a weekend load. Try and set a goal of $7500 to $8000 a week in LS gross revenue. I prefer not to do short loads. I try for longer loads that allow my to be in that 7 to 8 thousand a week Also you can negotiate. M Not all agents will do it, but some will go back to the broker with higher offers. Doesn’t always work, but it’s worth a try.
