Booker T Reaction to Will Ospreay "Grind" Promo | Should AEW Back Off WWE?

The speaker in the video questions whether AEW should focus on their own show instead of constantly targeting WWE. They discuss a recent comment made by Will Ospreay, suggesting that he may be seeking attention by engaging in AEW's antics. The speaker believes that Ospreay's comment may end up causing more harm than good for him in the long run. The discussion revolves around the idea of AEW needing to establish its own identity and not rely on controversy with other wrestling promotions. #vizard

I think it's a little funny that Ospreay said specifically he signed there so he could live in England and then turned around and said "I am the only one that flies back and forth from England" and how much it sucks... yeah that's why they wanted you to move bc you could have spent that flight time doing other stuff

His relationship with the Kliq in the 90's did far more for his career than marrying Stephanie in 2003. Coupled with gaining a lot of respect, after biting the bullet, post Curtain Call. The man had already done the grind, had a hand in an actual promotional war, and was a key character in the war being won by the company that he is now running. There wasn't much more for HHH to do after that. Some would argue, that his work post marriage, was past his in ring prime and during the decline. I mean ya, he got a hell of a title run after, but that was more like a retirement package on the way out for all he did.

And i would say that on character work, ospreay couldn't hold a candle to HHH. Ospreay could work matches better if you like that style. But the character work is what make the matches mean something. otherwise its just a bunch of moves and kickouts once you know its a work. 2003- 2005 triple h made Orton and Batista stars. He's desperate for attention. He wants WWE to acknowledge him (pun intended) but right now, in part due to Triple H's own merits but also because TK keeps shooting himself on the foot, WWE is farther away from AEW than at any other point in this almost 5 years. Every WWE show's viewership has grown in the past year and every AEW show's viewership has shrunk in the past year. Those numbers can be seen on wrestlemomics, they're available for everyone. AEW's KZread numbers are down too and WWE's are up. Merch sales, attendance, sponsors.... everything is up for WWE and down for AEW. Tony is never gonna have that acknowledgement he so desperately wants.

The promo feels odd considering Triple H didn't specifically say Osprey it was implied to be Osprey and others but not Osprey. That and if your gonna try to roast Triple H do something besides your only in the power you are cause you married the bosses daughter it was cool and a good one in like 2003 but now it's just old. I want them to succeed but AEW definitely needs to tone way done the WWE references outside of storyline stuff ( no Bucks showing the Perry Punk footage doesn't count as storyline stuff) and Max Caster doing the rapping to the ring thing when his opponent used to be in WWE. AEW just needs focus on their own stuff considering anyone who doesn't know about AEW may take the references as AEW going Notice Me Sempai

I agree with HHH here on that whole “Grind conversation” because what’s the point actually getting the chance to become something like a Pro wrestler to want to work “Lighter schedules” & want things done the easy way that early in your career? You should be so involved in something like that profession THAT the only time you take time off or want things a lot less strenuous on yourself is if you have an injury or an emergency 🚨 pops up in your life but outside that your life should be nothing but the job until further notice. Family can come another time , friends can come another time & everything else within reason can come another time so just Focus on being the best wrestler you can be because this is what you signed up for 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾. You can always do that "Lighter Schedule" stuff once you have established yourself in a Big named company & then when it is time to go your own way you will have more behind you to secure a stronger future for yourself, just my opinion.

Hunter will always have my respect for "the grind", that I've witnessed first hand. For context, I live in a more rural area of the US. For the most part, to even watch a main event concert, I would have to drive close to 2 hours (one way) for any venue. I've scene 5 WWE events in person (3 house shows, 1 Smackdown, 1 WrestleMania). The attitude and energy WWE superstars have during dark matches at small venues, matches what they do on tv. One show featured Hunter (this was after him having multiple tittle runs and headlining WrestleManias) as the Go Home match. He performed no different than if it was a Monday Night Raw! And after the show, he stuck around and met every/any kid that wanted to meet him and shake his hand.

That promo was pointless. Triple H didn't mention Ospreay and he could've been talking about Mone, Okada, Jay White or anyone else for that matter. And Ospreay's line of "grinding on the boss's daughter" is old and played out . They've been married for over 20 years, Triple H is a legend and he's proven to be a great booker, first on NXT and now on the main roster. That line could've worked better 10-15 years ago but not now. Also, how's mentioning WWE and WWE superstars gonna help AEW's business at all? What's the payoff?

If I were doing all these other events as an AEW wrestler, my first reaction would be to get pissed. I probably would try to work The Grinder into my nicknames and character, and boast about my miles traveled if I were working world-wide, though. Make it seem like I was grinding harder than WWE does, if it is true the WWE wrestlers are the grinders. But is that true? Didn't Undertaker say a few months ago that his take on today's WWE locker room is though everyone is working together better, more supportive towards each other, more resources for development, etc., the modern wrestlers are taking what they're given instead of forcing your way through the obstacles, and "grinding" out your own legacy?

If Will Ospreay felt hit, then if the shoe fits it fits, he got in his feelings. That Doesn't mean Triple H was wrong, because he was right, He said what he said, that has always been a WWE thing, you have be able to be present at all times and grind through it all... especially if you're still young. You usually you get days off and have more pull when you put in more years into the company and became a veteran then you get to have you Vacations, and months off...you have to earn your way to the Top and work your way to the top and sell merchandise, put butts in seats, to make that bread...they are not gonna give all that unnecessary money to you and give you all that pull just because you were a big star in Japan and else where, or just because Marks warship you and Dave Meltzer has your D**k in his mouth...that don't guarantee you a big push and big spot, there are wrestlers already there that have worked Their way to the top before you, you ain't gonna go in the front of the line because The marks look at you like you're a God and you have one hundred 6 star ratings...No you have earn your way up and prove yourself to the American audiences, like Causel fans, lapsed fans, women, elderly, and the real male Demographics not the marks only Demographics...WWE now has all the demographics, they now have all the Causel fans watching again, including Causel male college guys and UFC fans are now watching, you have Joe Rogan, Shannon Sharp, Andrew Schulz, Charlamagne the god, Stephen A. Smith, and mainstream media talking about WWE now....they are now mainstream again and going through a Golden Era. In WWE you have to earn your way to the top not given to you on a silver platter right away because you were a popular spot fest wrestler in Japan or in the Indy scene...No the marks can't dictate who gets pushed or who is a star...it's the masses, the big Demographics as a whole...not the small loud mouth obscure minority marks who chatter like B*tch** on the Internet and social media. Will Ospreay is still unknown to the vast majority of Americans and Causel fans and Lapsed fans, and they have no idea who he is regardless if he is this great wrestlers...being a great wrestler doesn't get you over nowadays, it's promos, charisma, acting abilities, facials expressions, presence, and believability, and in ring Psychology, long term storytelling. Will Ospreay doesn't draw a dime in this country, probably only in Japan...but here he is nonchalant, and vastly unknown, he obviously can't draw since nobody is watching AEW and they can't sell out 10,000 seat arenas, they have half empty Dynamite and collision shows...they have problems selling tickets and they can't get viewers....so he ain't that special. They have Okada, Will Ospreay, And Edge, Sasha Banks, and they ain't drawing a dime... nowadays WWE is on top of the world breaking records. Will Ospreay put his foot in his mouth because Triple H wasn't talking about him, he was talking about any wrestler out there in general...Will Ospreay just felt hit.

There was actually context to Cody doing that though as he was AEW's evp at the time with his gimmick being a boss character at the time while looking to build a new company. So in presentation and story the throne smash served a purpose. Ospeays promo was one lame because it was a token insult guys in WWE said to HHH in promos 20 years ago and two nothing triple h said on mcafees show that day should be taken as personal jabs. He made a blanket statement from a business perspective, If you aren't in it for the grind day in and day out in your prime to be a star in this company. We don't want or need you here. Because that is what everyone in WWE does is bust their ass there to get better and put on shows for the audience. He didnt go up there and call out Ospreay by name and blast him or whatever. What he was was a statement that could be applied to ospreay or anyother person that picked somewhere else over WWE for schedule reasons or whatever. and the way he delivered it he meant it from a business perspective of what they are looking for in talent. When HHH takes a personal jab there is a way he will do it and its obvious. That is not what he was doing with that comment. Ospreay got butthurt about it and acted like it was a personal shot and did the AEW thing and reacted stupid to it.

WWE hate competition. Will doesn't need WWE, Will can go anywhere, he is already a star. I agree the AEW has some f-up stories and at times it's boring on the other hand WWE has the same storylines all the time with different wrestlers. So many wrestlers from different companies go to WWE and they are used the wrong way and then are put on the shelf. If MJF goes to WWE, it will be a loss for AEW, MJF will never be Champ their and the story will get old. Punk has the same story and its old. WWE had to bring out retired wrestlers and "Johnson." to pull off a successful PPV. Roman's story was old, it was at the point that he was always going to with never on his own always with someone's help. That story was old two years ago. Cody won, great, he is boring, no excitement, the crowd will get tired and Roman or Johnson will come back as Champ because it's the good old boy network there. Will wasn't lying about HHH and once Tony finally gives in to actually get writers in his company to write good stories it will get better. I tape AEW and enjoy it more because you never know who is going to show up. Once again WWE hates competition.
