To all you kids out there who want to be musicians, pay attention to this episode. The better the artist, the broader the styles of music “in the bag”. Listen to everything even if it’s not the genre you play. Especially classical. That music just gets your mind moving and what you play will just expand.

In February 2020 he did an instore book reading and signing at Amoeba in San Francisco. Those events tend to be very superficial but he took the time to converse with everyone who attended in a thoughtful and humble manner. The man is giant in every way imaginable.

Al Kooper, session guitarist, played keys on like a Rolling Stone. He kind of got "self-assigned" the role. Al put the church into that song, and he started a whole new sound for rock/pop. "After Paul Griffin moved from playing organ on the song to playing piano, Kooper tried to get Wilson to let him play an organ part. Wilson rejected the idea. But when Wilson left the room, Kooper went into the session and took over the Hammond organ. Wilson let Kooper remain, and Kooper added the now famous organ riff to the song. When Dylan heard the playback, he reportedly asked for more organ."
