I love unhauls. I don't understand why people would keep books that they didn't like or didn't enjoy that much and those books are collecting dust instead of being somewhere else with another person who could potentially love them.

growing up i was definitely the type of person to hold on to books even if i didn’t enjoy them- but i was also very much raised in the “we keep everything” latin mindset😂 now, i’d much rather double it and pass it on to the next person lmao

Had to pause just at the beginning to comment. Thank you for speaking about the toxicity of Colleen Hoover books. I got Ugly Love at my local library and I could hardly make it through. I am 42, but if I imagine reading this 20 years ago, I would have totally been caught by the idolizing of such a behaviour by a man. As, you just have to have a lot of s*x with him, regardless how he treats you, then he will love you back. I just can't deal with how wrong this is. I am new to your channel but definitely a new subscriber!

I love your book unhaul, MelReads! I especially love your in-depth analysis on why these books weren’t your favorite, and how there was some parts you liked about the books. I enjoyed the disclaimer that you put in the beginning- even if these books may be some people’s favorite, but these aren’t your favorite, even if you given some of these 3 stars, too. It’s so cleansing to see you unhaul your little library because it means you will have more space for more books, and especially some that may potentially become your favorite! Love you so much, love ❤

I'm the same as you. If I rate a book 3 or 2.5 stars, I don't think they're terrible, it's just they're not for me, I find a some problems but understand why people love them. 4 stars for me means I loved the book but they're not perfect. 5 stars for me is when they are some of the best books I've ever read

If you like books that contain letters, you might like Letters to the Lost by Brigid Kemmerer. There is a second book, More Than We Can Tell, but both can be read as stand alones. Letters to the Lost: It's about a girl and a boy who meet through letters and fall in love, but they have to figure out who that other person is and face the idea that it may be someone they've judged harshly or even don't like in real life. Beneath that, though, the book deals with some pretty intense grief

For adult friends to lovers romances I HIGHLY recommend Next To You by Hannah Bonam-Young which is a stand alone in a companion series. I loved the first book, Next of Kin which is a foster guardian romance, too, but Next To You was perfection. It has stunning mental health rep, grief rep, bi-sexual rep, & the male love interest is so emotionally mature & not at all toxic. I think you would love that book! Hannah Bonam-Young is my new favorite author!

Hi Mel if you haven’t heard or read rupi kaur poetry collection. I recommend. Tigger warning she does have sexual assault and abuse in her poetry but it’s more so of her processing healing from it. And it’s only in book one or two that she references it. She does so much more with her like writing on topics of loving your love, heartbreak, body/self love, healing, empowerment, growth, feminism, the immigrant experience and family. All her books take you on a journey and most of her poems comes with an illustration she did. I have all 3 of her poetry books. Love each one!

I didn’t want to finish the 1st and 2nd because I was loving them so much, then I didn’t want to finish the 3rd because I was disliking it so much. Apparently JLA fired her editor after the 2nd book which is why the 3rd was so bad.

I JUST got rid of a BUNCH of books that I didn't totally love in general, books I don't like anymore and are just taking up room now that I liked when I was little (like ALL my VERY old and battered Stephanie Meyer books that I now HATE with a passion!!!), or books that were too dense for my tastes and it was taking me AGES to get through and I wasn't enjoying THAT much that most that someone else in my family said they loved.... I like CERTAIN adult books so far.... BUT... It needs to be written at a pretty decent clip for me to ever actually get through it.... (like I read the first Outlander book in 3 days after binge-watching all the episodes available on Netflix, and now I have through book 5, but haven't gotten around to reading it yet... I also LOVED Bridgerton on Netflix and decided to read all 8 of the books and got them all for my Kindle and read them all last year, and loved them to DEATH!!!) I also ditched tons of randoms and series I knew I probably wasn't going to read again as well. AND one of our local bookstores called Bullmoose lets you turn in books, movies, and other items in for cash if they're still in okay condition for either ACTUAL money or in-store credit!! I've done both in the past, and they tend to offer a LOT more in-store credit for your items than actual cash, sooo... if they happen to have a certain book or two I've been after, I'm happy to let them exchange my old books for a few new ones!! I ended up filling 4 ENORMOUS brown paper bags with books this time!! Whereas it's normally like "Oooo I don't like this book character AT ALL!! This is going in my stack of books to turn in next time I go", and filling up more like 1 or 2 bags at a time before I go to turn them in for cash or in-store credits!!! Also... now that I'm done with your video... if you ARE still looking for a sweet and cute adult romance novel author who writes AMAZING books that are the right amount of heat and have characters that ask CONSTANTLY for consent from the female characters... Melanie Harlow is my new favorite Romance author!!!! She writes the cutest romance novels that cover a WIDE range of subjects and she does it AMAZINGLY!!! I've read a crap ton of her romance novel series and have had a GREAT experience with them and love EVERY one of her characters!! She does second chance romance novels, childhood besties to adult lovers, enemies to lovers, friends to lovers tropes... she does it ALL!!!!
