This was my first book on perspective. I was confused at first, but realised that everything mentioned by the author NEEDS to be applied, so do every exercise that he mentions. Perspective is extremely hard to learn through a book, at least it is for me. I was just reading about it at first, but obviously that did very little for my understanding. I'm going through the Drawabox course and bought Scott Robertson's book for Christmas, can't wait 😁

I ordered this book because I wanted to learn to draw like you Dan. I think it is a great introduction for beginners like myself . Even as I progressed through the book, the information was explained so simply . I think the example drawings also help with explaining as well. Great book that got me started with perspective.

Did you ever tackle the 'problem' of the milk churn as described on pages 187-189? I'd have loved more info on solving this type of problem in the book. I've bought a few perspective books now and none of them describe how to overcome this kind of 'offset element' scenario. Any tips or advice or recommendations of any books that address this would be great :) Thanks!

@Dan Beardshaw Was wondering if Dan or somebody could help me? Have been working my way through this book but got confused with pages 128, 129 which concern drawing a cone on it's side. I understand how to make a cone out of a cylinder but how do I then draw the cone on the ground and go about changing the ellipse? Does the square the ellipse is set in move when the cone moves down onto the plane? How do I go from the plane moving up to meet the cone's apex to the cone and the plane moving down together and it all being in perspective (page 129)? Having great difficulty finding an answer, maybe it's an easy solution and I just can't see it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I think Norlings decision to seperate three point perspective including it later, is a product of the time it was written. In our time its common to see all sorts of angles in movies, crazy CGI twists in turns in 3D space. For a reader in a time when many readers may have never actually watched a movie, three point may have just been mind breaking and far too confusing.

One of the reasons I've been avoiding perspective besides its complexity is the fact people say you MUST use rulers etc. I don't like to draw with those instruments, it doesn't feel like drawing to me. But at the same time, my hands aren't very stable :/
